To Ignite

I wrote this as the first snow was falling. The light reflecting gave the night sky a light purple hue...I wanted to capture that moment.

Years ago, I went to an exhibition where the artist described mermaids as the "most tragic of mythological creatures...torn between two worlds and so full of longing."
Remembering her words, I experimented with some sounds. 
Would mermaids have a calmness, a serenity? What would their cry be like? How would they mourn? How would they rejoice?
