We continue our journey into sound with the Wandering II Compilation. This compilation celebrates the 20th release in the original SS series. A journey that took close to a year to compile and prepare. The tracklist is comprised of friends and artists who share in a connection with Silent Season through their music.

The Wandering Compilation is named after the Wandering tree, a Big Leaf Maple that grows very slowly near the beach by my house. I sit under this tree to ponder and watch the ocean. It’s a favourite place to chill with music and contemplate life. It’s under this tree that the idea of compiling a series of music that embodies the Silent Season vision and sound was born. We welcome you to sit back, close you’re eyes and listen to the sounds of the Wandering II compilation.

In a world rife with chaos there is so much beauty that can be found by being in nature. The aim of the Wandering compilation is to share music that encourages people to take notice of their natural surroundings and find peace within Mother Nature. The love of nature is a common language that transcends political and social boundaries. Through music, nature gives us universal purpose.

happy piano day! is it possible not to love the piano? an instrument that is so versatile, so deep and so full of different dimensions... so accessible and still so mysterious... so easy to play and such a special  instrument to master fully... also when you cross into more abstract soundscape and different textures of sound I think the piano is so open to improvisation, experimentation and exploration... also is an instrument that has such a long history of being expressed in so many differnt ways and yet today we hear a new and fresh exploration of it and that's AMAZING!

It’s the 88th day of the year and it’s piano day!!! 

The piano is such a dynamic and deep instrument. On one hand there seems to be no end to how far a virtuoso pianist can deepen the relationship with the instrument and on the other hand a one year old can have the most meaningful session of his or her life. We have a piano in the middle of our home and almost every day someone in the family get lost in some kind of improvisation with the instrument. Sitting by a piano and just play a few notes and feel the vibrations run thru the instrument and yourself is such a blessing, such a healing moment. I recommend everyone to spend some time with this instrument if you can, everyone can play and feel it.

This track is a special piano improvisation version of my new single "Moonwaker"  I made together with musicians from Tonhalle Orchester Zürich to honour the 88’s day of the year.

***a word on my field recordings: this was not a straight-through 9 min take of unedited thunderstorms, this is a soundscape of over 20 mins of footage edited down to showcase the best sounds I captured. It is meant to have a clear beginning, middle, and end, even though you are only hearing rain and thunder, there is a lot of editing and layering happening****

A sort-of follow up to my "Relaxing Rain and Loud Thunder" clip, this is almost 9 minutes of a series of thunderstorms descending upon the midtown area of Detroit, MI on Wednesday April 17 2013. My Tascam recorder was set up outside in a covered patio area, able to pick up the quickly increasing rain, while the extraordinarily loud cracks of lightning and booming thunder kept constant.

Brooklyn NYC + Detroit | Message directly for inquiries about sampling recordings, bookings, collaborations, or questions | Since releasing a series of diverse mixtapes in 2011, Stefanski has slowly turned his focus to his own ambient productions, often built entirely of original field recordings. He has released a wide array of original soundscapes ranging from brief, high-def clips of thunderstorms to extended sound collages, each project sharing a hazy, psychedelic glow. Before moving to Brooklyn, Stefanski curated the chill out room for infamous Detroit after-hours rave BAK DØR. After relocating he released an LP of short field recordinged ("20 X 2"), a podcast for an experimental NYC label (Metamorph) and an album for Bivouac's "60 Minute Cities" series. His relaxing rain soundscapes are some of the most popular on soundcloud, with one clip nearing 14 million streams as of late 2020.
