The Warmer Months in the Big City

This mix encapsulates some of the music and vibes I've been on late in 2014. 
Artists featured are from the US, UK, NZ and Oz - an indication of the growing national diversity of music. Good music is most certainly a language we can all understand. 

The track is comprised of both originals and remixes, reflecting the beauty of classic soul and reggae sounds mixed with contemporary production. Some of the remixes also exemplify how meshing genres can often bring out the best in the original tracks; hence demonstrating the essential role of the DJ. 
There's also a couple of original vintage soul tunes in there - the source from which it all comes. 
Special mention should be made of the Black Milk and Chet Faker albums released in 2014. The year was also a big one for Soulection radio - a critical outlet for very talented burgeoning artists. Brooklyn also made a reprisal, with Melo-X and Oddisee having a strong presence this year.

What have you done for me lately

Whilst competing for Burma in the 1987 Olympics as the captain of their star studded Taekwondo team, RJSpecial realized he had no real talent of his own. But spurred on by life lessons at the end of Full House, he persevered and discovered that he may not be entirely useless. In his teens he quickly developed the nickname ‘Quick Thumb Tommy’, as his peers were mesmerized at the speed and eloquence with which he could flick between the play, pause and record buttons. Such digital dexterity revealed that while he himself was unremarkable, he did seem to have a knack for finding others who were talented, very talented, and blending their songs together under a theme, to create tasty treats for listeners, full of antioxidants and wholegrains.
