I reworked a song that I really hated and now I don't hate it! Hooray for hindsight.
If for some strange reason you want to know what I changed from the original, well, I got rid of that irritating harp, mixed it a lot better overall, made it slower, made the harp part play on a piano and not the whole way through the piece, added some softer piano chords towards the end, added some flute and brass harmonies, and added a flatline sound at the end for additional edginess and depth and all that.
So yeah, enjoy.

Ascension -- Reworked Version

I recently tweeted asking for Kirkhope tunes to remix, and none other than the man himself suggested Crystal Caves! So here it is, a remix of a theme which is incredibly relaxing and atmospheric. It was a huge challenge to make this, and many areas went through several iterations (namely the opening and airy third emlody). However, I feel like this end product is quite good and so I'm proud of it. I hope you enjoy too!

Event Horizon is the point of no return: in astronomy, it's the point in a black hole where no matter can escape it.

Fittingly, this track is a point of no return in my discography too: the first in a new generation of tracks and miles away from my earlier, more classically oriented work.

It's six minutes long and took six months to make: very meticulously produced with a blend of software and hardware; samples and field recordings; organic and artificial.
