I couldn't find an accurate translation of "mali-mabe" other than the literal one. But I learned that the earliest use of the phrase in English was in the 1600's and came about because of the association of blood with emotions, temperament, and mental health, which founded the ancient medical practice of blood-letting (withdrawing blood to treat/cure illness) which is so interesting. Mali-mabe is sort of like an unfortunate predisposition to misfortune. It is having things and plans disintegrate before you despite all the effort you put in. This song is a reflection on that. What started as an exercise to use the vowel sounds like in some Sesotho play songs (see: litolobonya), ended in such a deeply personal monologue. As luck would have it, I always have people to highlight my failures, but none as harsh as me, but to say I have bad blood doesn't sound right, because I'm conflicted on whether one is simply born to fail or it is acquired. If it's the latter, I would be a hypocrite to absolve myself of the credit.... this is an unmastered version, will update in the future.
