Mannequin Records is proud to announce a new press of Decadance "On And On (Fears Keep On)", one of the most iconic underground Italo-wave track ever.

Produced by Franco Rago & Gigi Farina, the masterminds behind cult italo disco projects ‘Lectric Workers, Wanexa, Expansives, Atelier Folie, Peter Richard and many more, the single was originally released in 1983 by Proto Records. 

Permeated by a dark a eerie synths, a perfectly programmed Roland TR-808 and an outstanding analog production, "On and On (Fears Keep On)" belongs to what we like to define "dark italo disco" or "italo wave". Here's there's an extra touch of cosmic / interstellar feeling, sharing the same feelings (and the same synthetic hardware) of "Spacer Woman". Not a intergalactic travel this time, but the wait for somebody to come from the sky.

The best year for Italo Disco music from a true Italo lover's standpoint is without a doubt 1983. The list is endless and really impressive. We could mention Gaznevada, N.O.I.A., Kano, Finzy Kontini, Gary Low, Gazebo, Righeira.. but let's keep the focus more in the "underground" hits:  Mr. Flagio, Charlie, Casco, B.W.H., Roberto Onofri & Dee Jay Program Band, Amin Peck, Paul Paul, Fred Ventura, International Music System, Kirlian Camera, My Mine and, to cut the long story short, Decadance. Originally released in 1994, ‘Internal Empire’ marks a point of transition for Robert Hood moving on from his previous collaborations within Underground Resistance. Robert Hood advanced uncovering the power of true minimalism. Deep soul through a simplicity that showed how much could be done with so little. The devastating rhythms of this album forge the unmatched spirit of this sound, influencing generations to come.

I cancelled all my tour dates for that summer, setup my studio in the living room and began to work on 'Internal Empire'. My intention was to create something distinctively different. Icelandic producer https://soundcloud.com/jonbjorn returns to his Lagaffe Tales imprint to deliver four vibrant cuts on the ‘BROT’ catalogue.

In a small valley between two mountains in the Icelandic Westfjords, you can find the source of creativity for the Reykjavík based Icelandic DJ and producer, Jónbjörn. As well as being an accomplished DJ, performing in Berlin, Vienna, Helsinki, Tbilisi and festivals such as Sonar Reykjavik and Secret Solstice, the last three years has seen Jónbjörn carving out a solo career both as a graphic designer, and music producer developing a sound of his own working with labels such as Neo Violence, FALK Records, D.KO Records and remixes on his Lagaffe Tales imprint – the label he’s been running for the past seven year runs with his friend Viktor Birgiss. In 2020 Lagaffe Tales will introduce more artists on the BROT series which https://soundcloud.com/felixleifur started ever so memorably with a headturning trilogy in 2019.

The opener entitled ‘Shamisen’ kicks off the EP with stabbing electro drums, fluttering synth work harmonising with the gentle melodies throughout while ‘Anthophila Anna’ provides a more technofocused feel with raw modulations, acid-fuelled tones and surging, lo-fi rhythms.

On the filp, ‘Tinni’ deploys a menacing synth line, growing oscillations floating with the weight-driven kicks and snares offering up a peak-time dancefloor focused cut before ‘Sakuragawa’ rounds off proceedings with shimmering grooves harmonising with the aquatic tones and effervescent elements that pulsate until the end.
