The semi-fictional story of Russell's brief encounter in a Sheffield night club. We've been playing this for two years and he still hasn't gotten that jumper back.

If you're anything like me you spend a horrifying amount of time internally replaying every awkward, rude, or generally terrible thing you did and then wished you hadn't. This thought process normally ends with "it's just as well I would never do anything like that now" but that's really just a comfortable lie most of the time. The point of this song, though, is that these painful recollections are probably a significant part of what makes us become better people.

Regret

Honest

The narrator of the story of this song is unable to sleep, freezing cold and haunted by the memories of a loved one. They attempt to solve both problems by setting alight all the things they still own that link the two of them together. It goes badly.

I was trying to have a drink with a friend in a pub once and a drunk man dropped himself in the chair opposite us and exposited his life story, by the end of which I was torn somewhere between deep dislike and pity.  Pity won out in the end in the case of this song, but I feel required to tell you he was a git.
