 Pennsylvania purveyors of metal BLACK CROWN INITIATE have unveiled a brand new track today titled "For Red Cloud" exclusively at Metalsucks.net. It is the first bit of new music we've heard from the band since the release of their previous LP in 2014. Guitarist Andy Thomas calls the song "a statement of the psychological enslavement of the modern world, and a tribute to those who resisted being enslaved. We will never become the storm of change that our world needs. Our children will never know what true freedom feels like, and we surely don't, either."
BLACK CROWN INITIATE will release Selves We Cannot Forgive on July 22, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne). The tracklist and visually mindbending cover art created by Travis Smith (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Avenged Sevenfold) can be seen below. "We've been through a great deal as a band since our last release," says Thomas. "We've grown a great deal as writers, players, and people and put everything we had into this one." 

Recorded and mixed by Carson Slovak & Grant McFarland (August Burns Red, Texas In July, From Ashes To New) at Atrium Audio Recording Studio’s in Lancaster PA, Selves We Cannot Forgive will be the follow up to the buzzworthy debut LP The Wreckage of Stars released at the end of 2014. The Wreckage of Stars also propelled the band into the international touring act it is today. BCI quickly found themselves on the road with the likes of Behemoth, Deicide, Napalm Death and Voivod.  

Selves We Can Not Forgive, the band’s sophomore album with Entertainment One, is a lean and focused collection that jettisons the extraneous fat found too often within ambitious metal bands, striking a balance between fearless adventurousness and methodical might. It follows The Wreckage of Stars, which together with their self-financed Song of the Crippled Bull EP introduced Black Crown Initiate’s unapologetic exploration of everything from Friedrich Nietzsche and Greek Sophist Gorgias to Hinduism, Buddhism, and indigenous mysticism, with a pragmatic skepticism.

On November 25th, Chicago-based death doom collective COKEGOAT will drop the torrential fruit of their latest full-length, Drugs And Animals, upon unsuspecting souls. Engineered, produced, and mixed by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats) at Bricktop Recording and mastered by Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang, Earthless et al) at Saff Mastering, the nihilistic sounds of Drugs And Animals displays the unit manifesting their own unique brand of heavy, sullen music. The post/doom/death/heavy metal sextet layers Jeff Wojtysiak, Ed Nudd ,and Rebekah Brown on guitars, synths and vocals, while Chase Bentley, Tim Baldwin, and Jordan Schultz add mass with guitar, bass and drums respectively. Six members strong. Six years in the making. Six musical voices.

Comments the band on Drugs And Animals: "Drugs And Animals is a tall refreshing Long Island Ice Tea in a craft cocktail world. It's trashy, it will fuck you fuck up, and you'll probably wake up in a strange place needing a double does of antibiotics. Drugs And Animals will be release released digitally and on 180-gram 12” vinyl late next month via the official COKEGOAT Bandcamp page.

Founded in the Windy City during the summer of 2011, COKEGOAT embraces the inherent evil of the earth and the soul. Planets dying, earth eating man, ocean birthing fear, moon swallowing heavens… 2013 saw the release of the debut album Vessel. Sludgelord gushed, “Vessel is an album of distorted chaos… chaotic, angry, brilliant, and bewitching.” New Noise concurred, “Vessels is one hell of a debut. This bitch has balls. But quickly flashes some groove… Here we have ‘three guitarists, three voices, synths, bass and drums,’ kept on a production leash that adds an urgency to the manic time changes. Which crush. As a small country, the Dutch are far from doing bad when it comes to their contribution to the black metal scene, on the contrary and Tarnkappe proved this in 2014 with “Tussen Hun en de Zon”, a largely left unnoticed record of great magnitude, shame on you all! As a project of two members of bands such as Kjeld, Salacious Gods, Lugubre these guys are deeply rooted in the underground.

‘Winterwaker’ (meaning “Guardian of Winter” in English) by Tarnkappe is the follow-up that proves this quality-approach in full. In this case you will be caught by surprise totally, since this is a classic Black Metal album that needs to be heard. We would dare say this the traditional 90’s Black Metal record we all have been waiting for, records like this are not made anymore...

If you enjoy your Black Metal with an organic, natural sound, Tarnkappe will be on your to get. We would say that Tarnkappe revives the old 90’s Scandinavian spirit in full, but this would not justify what this band has achieved here. They are original enough to have their own sound. Great songs, razorsharp guitar riffs, insane vocals and a topnotch production is what you get. A hypnotizing, gloomy setting that makes this release sound ritualistic and captivating. All delivered in an ice-cold artwork.

If you like it cold, grim and traditional, and still feel melancholic on the early 90’s scene, then you need Tarnkappe!
