Jacq Charles, a multifaceted dynamic artist, who having engaged his creative peers for a long time with his production & studio engineering, now brings to light his undeniable talents as a self-produced singer/songwriter.

Originating from the small neighbourhood of Mermoz in Lyon, France, Jacq came from a large Sudanese family. At the age of 10 a poignant move was made by his mother to relocate him, along with his brothers and sisters to West London, with the belief that a new life in the UK would bring broader opportunity through education and exposure to new experiences. 
 
His deep rooted passion for music was ignited from the age of 8, when his godmother influenced him to play the guitar and listen to a wide variety of genres. It was during this time he started to fall in love with the rawness of story telling singer/songwriters such as Tracy Chapman. By the age of 13, Jacq discovered music production, and being exposed to programmes such as Fruit Loops, he gained the necessary tools to unlock the official pursuit of his musical vision. Jacq’s love for making music in his school years lead him to his place at the City of Westminster College, a melting pot for successful musicians including Ella Mai and George Ezra. It was here he studied Creative Media Production before dropping out to loyally pursue his career as a musician full time. 

Of his earliest musical influences Jacq recalls American and British music being prevalent in France, artists such as Craig David, Tupac and Micheal Jackson all left an imprint on him along with many African flavours that were popular there at the time, Congolese, Sudanese and Ivorian Zouglou artists such as Magic System were also massively influential in the future sound he would begin to create.  

As he developed in his own sound, figures such as Pharrell & Kanye West became particularly influential as Jacq identified his own creative process in their ability to self produce, whilst experimenting with sounds & genres to convey a vision to the audience. Artists like Burna Boy, Wande Coal and Wizkid have been equally instrumental in Jacqs Afrobeat infused style.

At the core of Jacq's sound you will always find his melodious flow at the heart of any song. He uses it to effortlessly transition his energy to the listener, relaying experiences, states of mind and personal encounters. Another constant is his infectious beats, whatever the tempo, they will be sure to transport you instantly to a state of ease and escapism. Unorthodox in his approach, he weaves between genres, allowing no bounds to confine whatever vision he is manifesting for the listener through the music. He has been likened to the Weekend and Party Next Door in his sound, comparisons Jacq welcomes as he recognises the fluidity in his music in theirs also. Whether the vessel be Afrobeat, New wave Hip Hop, Dancehall or Trap influenced, his sound is every ounce the perfect storm for an immersive listen.

Of his mission in music he says: “To spread vibes through creation. I hope what I create has the ability to help others, help others to get lost in the music, maybe help them to make sense of things they have been through hearing me recall something similar, or help align them with joy and great energy. For me, great music provides hope, and what is more powerful than that?”
