Many bands are beginning to have gigs , and venues have come back to life again in my town. That's what we have been waiting for !
We realize how precious sharing music is ! through COVID-19 pandemic. 
I recorded this one-man band song in spare moments from gigs of my band. Playing with my band gives me many inspirations for composing.

De la piedra a la luz

“She’s All Alone” is the fourth and final track recorded by my band from the early 80s, The Blenders. The band began discussing this project back in 2020, but the pieces didn’t fall into place until the winter of 2022. “She’s All Alone” may be my favorite recording of the Blenders Remember project. The recording is highlighted by Chris Franklin’s blazing guitar leads and “Sue” Susan Miley’s vibrant vocals.

“She’s All Alone” was written by Chris Franklin and was one of the first songs we put together when forming The Blenders back in 1982. Of the four songs we tackled, “She’s All Alone” is perhaps the darkest and it’s appropriate that it was written in a minor key. Most of the original Blenders’ tunes were upbeat and even light-hearted. “She’s All Alone” stood out in its sadness, but there was always something compelling about the song and it remained in our repertoire. The lyrics are beautifully ambiguous as the singer laments the loss of love. My favorite lyric is:

	“I’m sitting underneath a tree Letting my mind go.
	Thinking how it used to be before she had to go
	And climb the sky, she had to give it a try.
	Alone…”

Chris provides the lead vocal in the verses but specifically requested that Sue, Randy Edwards and I (“Rockin’ Dickie) sing the choruses with Randy doing the lead. Randy also does a great job on the bass guitar, effortlessly lifting the song from a lilting pace in the verses to a contagious groove during the choruses and guitar solo. And wait a minute – during Chris’ solo, is that a bass riff from “Vehicle”, the hit 70s song by the Ides of March? Regardless, that riff works.

For “She’s All Alone”, Chris requested that we leave a track where Sue could sing some “ad lib” vocals, and really “cut loose” That she did! After spending all day singing backups and harmonies to four songs, Sue sunk her remaining energy into three awesome takes. I was able to “cut and paste” her various phrases and piece them into different parts of the song.

Chris was so pleased with our efforts that he was ready to consider “She’s All Alone” a “finished project” just as it was. Fortunately, we were able to talk him into adding one final touch to the song: the scorching guitar leads you hear during the solo slot and then in the final chorus and outro of the song. Chris’ guitar work morphed “She’s All Alone’ from a funky little acoustic number into the rockinest tune The Blenders ever did.

Thanks for listening to “She’s All Alone” and the other three tracks that were part of the Blenders Remember project. It’s been a true blessing to reconnect with the three friends who were part of my first “professional” band. We were all in the “dawn” of adulthood in the early 80s, and what a thrill it was to discover that everyone still has their “chops” today. As always, your comments mean the world to us. Rock on!

Mr. Mike kindly invited me to join his song. Listening to his track, I was instantly attracted by his authentic blues guitar and organ. I'm very honored to play solo in the latter half of the song.
Please listen to Mike's fabulous play. He plays an orthodox school blues guitar that I can't achieve. Following his play, I played rather rock taste guitar. You may sense the influence of Johnny Winter and Duane Allman in it.

Whip Me Up Some Blues (Mike/Boon)

A breeze gently caressed my cheeks last night. I was a bit surprised that I still had room in my heart for enjoying changing season.
Although COVID-19 crisis in our country seems to get  out of its peak with minimal numbers of death toll, it left many scars in our lives. Damages came so fast but recovery will take  long time.
At least it's happy for us to be able to make music and share it.
