A song I wrote and recorded  amid a period of despair a number of years ago - still relevant today.

Makes Me Long For My Heavenly Home

A number of years after becoming a born again Christian (accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior as Jesus taught in the Gospel according to John Chapter 3 in The Word of God), Rob Donison returned to his teenage passion for writing songs.  Except, this time, instead of writing secular songs, he began to write faith-based material.  Through singing and drumming in church, he was encouraged to record his songs with a gifted multi-instrumentalist and minister by the name of Jay Cummins of Right Track Studios in Poplar, Montana, USA.  Rob recorded dozens of tracks with Jay on 8 track analogue equipment and then 8 track digital, giving the recordings away to encourage people in the faith.  Rob then began to build his recordings himself with the help of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada multi-instrumentalist, Arne Davis.  Rob and Arne built the drum, bass and keyboard tracks to a number of new 'Donisongs' in Regina and then Jay Cummins recorded guitars and Rob's vocals for the tracks in Montana..  Tracks were then mixed and mastered in Jay's and other studios in central Canada.  Rob then went on a journey exploring mixing and remixing his tracks in Jay's and various other studios, never officially releasing any of his material.  During this time, he rallied Christian broadcasters across Canada to form a Canadian Christian music recording music association.  He was invited to attend a meeting of industry professionals in Surrey, B.C., where he, armed with a letter from Nashville-based Gospel Music Association`s (GMA) president at the time, Bruce Koblish, promoted the concept of a Canadian Chapter to the GMA.  In 2001, one of the songs he penned in 1991 was being considered for Rev. Billy Graham for inclusion on a tribute CD for the evangelist.  Tragedy struck with 911 that year, and the project was shelved.  By this time, Rob was contacted by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), to be a Judge in the category of Best Gospel Album.  Over this decade, he used his knowledge to act in this time-consuming, voluntary capacity three separate times.  In first year as a Judge, he listened to a CD by Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada rapper and hip-hop producer Robert `Fresh I.E. Wilson, which ended up being recognized with both a Juno and Grammy nomination.   In 2014, Rob decided to re-enter the studio to work on his own songs and a couple of old hymns, with Wilson producing.  Select ``Donisongs from over the years will be released via the internet with the hope that they will bring hope and direction to lost and struggling souls around the world.
