My arrangement of Wish You Were ( Pink Floyd ), hope ya'll like it.

Last year my cousin, Robin Gazdecki, tragically lost his life. He was like a brother. While thinking of him, I decided to make this recording. His death occurred when the covid lockdowns began. Robin is featured in the attached picture

Recorded at night in Guanacaste Costa Rica - we live in a remote and tranquil rural area. Behind our house is a jungle. The dogs barking in the background belong to my neighbor down the street. In a way it is a fitting ambience.

To help out with the ambience of the barking dogs a track of crickets were added ( not part of the original recording ). It all sounds organic.

Recorded my acoustic on an old Zoom audio recorder and mixed it with Reaper

The tides are slowly flowing upon the seashore; they’re eroding away the footprints I made on the sand. Just as the tides run around my feet, washing away my sand prints I lift my eyes to behold the sky with a countless sea of stars. 

Down at the seashore, I am reminded of how the beauty of creation is beyond measure. From the slow opening of a delicate flower, the autumn colors, a little girl’s smile all tells me, and the way the sun sparkles on the water: all tells me that the nature world reflects the grace which created it. 

In some odd way, the continuous tides remind me of years gone by and ages yet to come.  And yet…since the creation of the world, there have always been sandy beaches –places where land and water meets. 

Down at the seashore, I am reminded of how such places are very ancient. If the waves could talk, I wonder what stories they would tell us. Maybe, just maybe they would tell us why the gulls cry or what was like to see the first ship sail or to have the first seashell or sand dollar ever to be beached.  I wonder if it could remember its experience of so many years ago of when God’s Spirit moved across its face. 

Down at the seashore, I am reminded that there are scientists who believe that land life originated form the sea. Whether or not this is true, there nevertheless seems to be innate human need to return to beach. Does that mean that deep within the human soul is an unconscious yearning for a former home? Or is our love for the sea just there because we yearn to be one with the grace it reflects?

For me the need to be in tune with the natural world is what keeps me coming back; especially to the shore. Somehow just being here is enough for me to open my heart to the spiritual essence behind it all and say thank you to the Sprit that moved over the waters and gives us all the breath of life. 

Down at the seashore, I realize that creation itself has a rhythm to it. That can open up the heart and help human beings worship.

This is not the first version of this song that I've recorded. I keep returning to it - I clearly love it. It appears, augmented, on The Rowan Amber Mill release Golden Strings To Tether The Sun. Here is the UnMilled version, and as close to my idea of how it sounded in my head as I can make it. At present it's only a rough mix. I hope to find someone to mix it properly. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy it.
