Payday is a unique performance documentary set in the heart of Croydon, which delves into the finances and lives of four twenty-somethings. The documentary follows the highs and lows of Generation Y as they cope in one of the toughest economic times since the 1930s. The film focuses on the contrasting lives of our diverse cast from the moment they receive their ‘payday’ money to how they go on to spend, save or squander it.

Rob Manning is a film/television composer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work on BAFTA-nominated feature documentaries Maiden (Sony Picture Classics) and One Deadly Weekend in America (BBC). 

In 2019 he scored Climate Change: The Facts (BBC) presented by Sir David Attenborough and recently completed the follow up film – Extinction: The Facts – to be aired later in 2020.

He recently completed series five of the Emmy-nominated drama Jamie Johnson (CBBC) and additional music for Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse (BBC). 

Other credits include Louis Theroux: Miami Mega Jail (BBC); Chuck Norris vs Communism (Netflix), which premiered at Sundance 2015; the BAFTA-winning observational film The Last Chance School (Channel 4); the BAFTA-winning comedy series Fonejacker (Channel 4); the documentary series Love & Hate Crime (BBC); and more than 70 other productions spanning 15 years for broadcasters including Netflix, HBO, Discovery, National Geographic, Disney, SKY, BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

Rob has worked in the television industry for over 25 years. He studied music at Brunel University in London and toured with various bands before training as a sound recordist, moving into full time composing in 2005.

He was born and raised in London, where he lives with his wife, two children and a goldfish called Clem Fandango.
