Born in the 80's Riccardo Benigno was nurtured by a
incredible musical era.. He was a basically roadie from
the age he could carry anything, helping his dad's band
who performed in the 80's and 90's. From a very young age
his passion for music was immanent. He pursued his
passion by learning to play anything in his way and then
attended The School Of Audio Engineering (SAE
Institute)and received a Bachelors in Sound Production. A
contrasting talent, a fascinating music producer, a
marvellous songwriter, a superb singer and a positive
performer. Riccardo brings a distinctive expression
through song, sound and performance. With years of
practice, passion and inspiration Riccardo has found
himself performing amongst some of the most highly
renowned artists, bringing an original reflection of his
wide emotional fusion of multiple genres creating a
unique sound for all audiences. Performing on some of the
biggest platforms in South Africa and around Europe. With
music released on Kalushi Recordings, Nomadiq Records,
Something Different Records, Magique Music and Just Move
records, Riccardo is only at the very beginning of a

Wednesday Weapons #90 Guestmix by Riccardo Benigno

Hot off the back of the ‘We Go Walking’ EP from label boss Ryan Murgatroyd at the end of February, Swoon Recordings continues its prolific run of form with the announcement of its next formidable offering, this time from Aero Manyelo with his ‘Hold You Forever’ EP.

Out now via Swoon, ‘Hold You Forever’ sees Murgatroyd enlist the hotly-tipped South African producer for his first full EP on the label from another artist, and Manyelo’s debut outing on the flourishing Johnnesburg-based imprint.

Kick-starting the three-part package with the emotive title track ‘Hold You Forever (feat. Unnamed People)’, Aero makes his intentions knows from the off as he lays down a mesmerizing eight-minute cut complete with deep melodic basslines, afro house rhythms and a hypnotic top-line courtesy of fellow countryman Unnamed People. 

Next up, Murgatroyd jumps on for an exclusive club-ready remix, reimagining the original into a late night, main room affair, before Manyelo closes out the EP in emphatic fashion with the impressive closer ‘Dongo’.

Speaking about the release, Ryan Murgatroyd commented:
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Aero to Swoon for his label debut. This will be the first of many forthcoming EPs over 2020 that focus on championing upcoming South African talent as we look to solidify our sonic signature, combining fresh Afro House elements with our usual cinematic and dancefloor-friendly melodic techno vibes”.
