I remember listening to this almost indefinitely on repeat when this came out in December 2012. It was a bit of a rough time personally and professionally, and this mix was an amazing escape. Great to hear it again, still fresh as ever.

Kronom is a Skopje-based multi-genre producer that specializes in creating sonic warheads and broken rhythms with a musique concrète approach. Having started producing music in his early teens, playing live, and DJ’ing later on, his sets and live performances have evolved into a complex maelstrom of noisy textures and hectic drum patterns. “For this mix, Rob handed over some tracks, and I added some of my own. These were all tunes we agreed kept to the vibe of that party – brooding, dark, insistent, hard and a bit twisted. I especially like the Violetshaped remixes, we’d discovered them via some friends in Serbia, and they certainly blow a lot of other stuff out of the water. Broken and syncopated. Some pads and strings were added to make the mix more interesting, to give some contrast with the brutal beats. There’s a few non-techno tracks in there as well, including a snippet of an acid track due for next year on Combat (“Rebuild”). Hope you like.” ~ Stormfield

Although it was hard watching months of careful planning and hard work erased, we recognise the impact of this crisis goes much deeper than a few cancelled parties, so we decided to channel our energy into something more positive.

'Remote Access' is a collection of music sourced from both core members of our CF family, and a handful of our favourite producers operating in the UKs underground scene.

About the Voltage Songs EP:

The origin of this project was to compose a full song on the Tracker, using mostly modular synthesizers. I use a CV.OCD midi to CV converter so the Tracker can speak directly to my eurorack systems. My first experiment with this set up led to this.

Once this track was done I multi tracked it to my computer and polished it a little bit, added some details to make it a little bit more interesting. From there as I wanted to be able to share this with other users on the Polyend Scene, I made a bunch of samples using all those sounds from the modular and decided to make another track out of it. This is the track you have here, feel free to use any of those sounds in any way you like.

I used mostly the Slice play mode here, so I could make different chunks of audio, sequence those back in any orders that felt right (or wrong) and play those at different speed easily.
The time stretched version of the breakbeats were made using the Akaizer (but as I write this there is a very potent time stretch included in the Tracker).
