Berlin based Amotik started his label (of the same name) just over a year ago, and has developed a style of hypnotic/dreamy techno with an uncompromisingly raw undertone. He's gone on to release on Tommy Four Seven's '47' label whilst maintaining a regular release schedule on his own self-titled vinyl imprint. One of our hotly tipped stars for the future. For the last 25 years, Luke Slater has been a master in sound design. Throughout his career he’s operated under several different guises, with an extensive back catalogue that’s widely regarded as one of techno’s greatest. 

He started out in the early 90s releasing seminal works on labels like Peacefrog, and in 2006 he started putting out music via his own label Mote Evolver, yet his output hasn’t slowed down since then: the best example of this is probably last year’s killer 'Arc Angel' LP he released as Planetary Assault Systems via Ostgut Ton.

Slater is equally lauded as a DJ. Through our history he’s become something of a Farringdon staple, and his clinical precision has helped make his Room Two sets highly anticipated among the techno contingent of our family.

He reminded us why he’s become so integral to our space at his last appearance with us. Following on from Terry Francis and Black Asteroid’s bewildering live show, Slater stepped up to close out the room with a dramatic and transcendent 3-hour closing.

As we invite him to return to his adopted Room Two home this coming Saturday, we uncovered the recording from last year in anticipation.

From cult local beginnings on the Berlin circuit, Rødhåd is now very much part of the global DJ highway. What initially turned heads was his ability to hold down long and hypnotic sets of loopy, moody house and techno all masterfully mixed in immersive ways. His productions, too, mixed sparse ambient designs with rolling techno grooves on labels like Dystopian and Token, and just this month he put out his debut album, Anxious. It’s a filmic meditation on beautifully bleak and eerie sounds and is another reason we love the man after he turned in a memorable closing set on our UFO stage at this year’s Dekmantel Festival. 

Over a ninety minute live mix recorded recently, he gets more energised with plenty of hurried techno and urgent synth lines all tightly weaving round each other. It’s a high pressure and enchantingly linear set that touches on Millsian space vibes, industrialism and unhinged apocalypse music in one smoothly mixed and sequenced session that will leave you out of breath.
