Anyone who's pulled a weekend-long Doom session, worked their way through a six month long D&D campaign or just had a particularly vivid dream will know how easy it is to slip from reality into other territories. Urban explorer academic and author Bradley L Garret has made exploring these colour-and-sensation saturated spaces into a lifelong pursuit.  

Visiting Sheffield to talk about his new book Explore Everything - Place Hacking The City as part of this year's Off The Shelf festival, I had a chat with him about how urbex's frameworks and sensibilities fit with the exploration and play of game environments, RPGs and how skatboarding is an attempt to reappropriate space in your image, among other things. Contains swearing.
