Here's my version of the Chas n' Dave classic. A few changes to this one - Acoustic Guitars instead of Piano, one is standard 6 string, one is in Nashville tuning. There's also a solo, played on my Telecaster with a B-Bender installed. One step closer to a pedal steel!

Ain't No Pleasing You

Pretty straightforward this one - and shock horror, no guitar on it either. I did a version of this back in 2012, in that prolific, depressed period. It had guitar on it - but no piano. This time it's a bit more faithful to the original. It's also far better quality and sounds much clearer. Hope you like it - many thanks for listening.

Bridge Over Troubled Water 2020

So here's Talk Talk's "It's My Life". Some subtle differences - no synths! I think it's obvious to say the original is caked in OBX's and DX7's and what have you. I decided to use strings, brass/woodwind sounds, and there's even an acoustic guitar in there! The structure is the same, and I tried so hard to do it justice vocally. I hope I did - and I hope you enjoy listening. Cheers!

Fanfare For The Common Man

I first recorded this 10 years ago or so. I remember being chuffed with most of it, apart from the vocal had a stack of mid frequencies cut. It was thin and nasal (yeah I know my vocal is like that at the best of times) so I finally decided to do it all again, 2 of the solos I remembered but the first one has disappeared from the memory bank, I'm getting old now you see....

The Seeker 2020

A long standing song for me. When it came out, musically it really struck me. When my long term relationship finished at the end of 2011, lyrically this song made sense. It helped me get through a tough time - but enough of that. I recorded it around Christmas 2011, and I was proud of it at the time. Now was the time to do a cleaner, better version of it. I'm pleased with it - especially the count-in. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy it!

Ghost Of A Chance 2020

And so here's another of those tracks I recorded many years ago, but better. The equipment I am using sounds so much cleaner, plus the mixes etc are far better after spending 12 years or so learning how to do it properly (or BEGINNING to learn to do it properly)! 

I was never happy with the original vocal on this (yeah I know, please don't laugh) and this one seems better - no autotune for starters - even though it did get done fairly quickly.  No excuses for the tip of the hat to Brian May, I've done that many times, and also for the "hint of Enya" at the end.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 2020

My version of the classic Fleetwood Mac tune "The Green Manalishi with the Two-Pronged Crown". Really enjoyed doing this - it's taken a fair old while but I've had great fun. I put strings on it because I reckon it turns a sinister song into something even more evil-sounding. As usual, I used Reaper and the good ole POD XT LIVE. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy it!

GREEN MANALISHI

Classically trained. Birmingham Conservatoire graduate. First Study Guitarist, but jack of all trades is probably accurate for anything that comes up on here. 

I'm generally not looking to change anything massively, I'm just busy enjoying myself - but sometimes you may find a reworking. 

I do have two other profiles on here - Rob Roy Fellows, where I post up any compositions although I will add I'm not prolific. My pseudonym is Lord Shapla - check him out. The quality of some of his recordings is rather ropey and is being addressed continually.
