Following hot on the heels of the brilliant collab release with Shur-I-
Kan, the man like Milton Jackson steps up for his first solo release for
Freerange since 2009.  With just a couple of recent and forthcoming
releases for Closer To Truth and Housewax, we welcome the Scotsman back with open arms as he delivers a five track EP which we’re sure you’ll agree has been well worth the wait!

Opening track Remember reminds us why we first fell for MJ’s music all
those years ago.  Filmic strings add that deep, widescreen mood whilst a
punchy house groove and bouncing square wave bassline satisfy the low end junkies.

Lockdown Love continues with a brilliant flip of a familiar sample, loaded with a positivity that can’t fail to lift the floor and with that crunchy, raw production courtesy of MJ’s beloved EMU sampler.
For the third track he drops the BPM for the blissed-out slice of heaven
entitled Adriatica.  Here we get a good listen of Milton in musical mode
as he goes heavy on lush Rhodes, 80’s Moog lines and sun-soaked strings.

On Birdsong we’re treated to a twitchers delight as things head deep into a tropical oasis with another slo-mo house groove to smooch n’ sway to.

Wrapping up the release we head full on Balearic with Miami Voice,   a nod to the synth pioneers Vangelis and Moroder and just the kind of retro beauty to reduce a grown man to tears as the sun rises over a Glasgow afterparty.

@Freerangerecords boss @Jimpster is back with another ridiculously classy EP fusing deep and soulful house with afro edges as he pays tribute to the South African deep house vibe that he is a well known supporter and advocate for. It's a country that he has visited on many occasions, and which is hailed by many as the Deep House capital of the world.

Featuring four tracks, South African vocalist Mavhungu stars on the lead track 'Tribute' which also see's two remixes from Yoruba maestro Osunlade. It's a truly inspiring slice of house music.

Our premier today is the bubbling deep house bliss of Jacidswing with it's acid 303 B-line, smooth euphoric pads and wicked percussion. It's a hypnotic and heart wrenching piece of music and another incredible release for Freerange.

Diggin' Deeppa Sessions #4 / Jehan

Philippa’s label At Peace @atpeace returns this December with the "Patience Young Grasshopper" EP, featuring a track from the label-head, a remix from Andy Riley and a contribution from fellow Kiwi Zayn Kemp. 

New Zealand born, Berlin-based Philippa @djphilippa launched the At Peace imprint in June 2019 and has since gone on to release two EP’s of her own material. Here we see Philippa widen the scope a little with the addition of two new artists to the At Peace roster, Nottingham’s Andy Riley, of Inland Knights and Toka Project fame, and Zayn Kemp – a well known house DJ from New Zealand currently living in Berlin with roots in Hip Hop. 

Taking the lead on the package is label boss Philippa’s "Wax On", a jazz leaning house workout fuelled by a wandering double bass groove, swirling delayed Rhodes chords and loose, shuffling drums throughout. 

We are proud to present Andy Riley @borrowed remix of "Wax On", taking a more refined, subtly blooming approach via a swinging 4/4 drum groove and hazy atmospheric tension before the original’s double bass licks and airy chords are thrown into the mix alongside additional vocal chants.

Zayn Kemp’s ‘We Lost Love’ then rounds out the release, a bumpy bass driven cut featuring a vocal sample from New Zealand singer songwriter Julia Deans.

Roberto Rodriguez is a Helsinki-based DJ, producer, radio host and music director. Having started making music at the age of 12 in 1987 and starting to DJ a few years later, Roberto can be called a true veteran. He has released over 50 original releases and 60 remixes including - now- classics like 'Ride With Me’, ’Besomebody’ and ’Oxymoron’. His vast catalog includes releases on labels such as Compost, Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur, Room With A View, FINA and Eskimo. Just to name a few. 

Among his DJ and producing duties, Roberto runs his own label Serenades which is now on its third year. In Finland Roberto has a popular weekly radio show which shares its name with his label. Due to his vast experience Roberto's Dj sets are often full of treasures, both old and new, that you've never heard before and may never hear again.
