I love dreaming up songs and learning to play them. Been doing lots of open mics and I want to start doing (solo acoustic) gigs this year, so if you need to fill a support slot or something give me a shout (England). I used to write novels and they were quite successful, good reviews in the papers and foreign editions etc, but I channel that energy into songs now. It's not really a choice.

Johndearjohn is the country pop project of Brooklyn-based songwriter, Jason Metzner.  Drawn to the timeless, witty, and direct storytelling of country music, Metzner has been inspired to write songs in this style, hoping to find some truth there.  Go ahead, call it "carpet-bagger country".  It's ok! 

Collaborating with other vocalists has provided a new way to work for Metzner, which has led to some powerful results already. Johndearjohn is just getting started, so stay on the lookout for more releases soon!

It's a blessing to be able to create music and if someone enjoys my work, that's icing on the cake! All blessings come from God.

As a retired DOD Civil Service worker, I have time to record some. I have been recording at home for around 23 years and some of my tracks are very old.  I‘ve had 50+ years in bands playing music of many types. I still play the club scene 3 to 4 times a month. Life is good!

Brief Story Of My Musical Life!
Hi, dear music lovers, 
*My name is Johan F. Langhendries and at the age of two, I became interested in music. Believe it or not, I was a very quiet child and I often listened to music on my father's radio. Jazz, Rock, Classic, just everything! A little later, at age 4 and 5, my grandmother learned me what a C-chord was on her piano, in the different octaves. Later on, she learned me also the other chord. At the age of six, I started making my own drums with wash-powder boxes and I used wooden kitchen spoons to make the sound of a “drum”. When I was 8, several albums like for example; “Let it be” by The Beatles, Block Buster by The Sweet, Black & Blue by The Rolling Stones, etc... were a part of my drum exercise experiences as a young kid. 

° At the age 10, I learned to play on a real drum-kit and trumpet and was also following music theory in two different music schools, for six years, to fill up my evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon, I had to go to our music theory class and we learned how to write music, etc… At the age of 12, I had my first second-hand drum-kit and at sixteen i started playing in a Punk-Rockband. Lots of fun indeed! At age 18 I  went to study at private school ‘Haleweyn ‘Jazz-Studio’ in Antwerp and learned a lot more about Jazz music and how to play it... I Love to play Jazz, but Funk and Rock became the biggest part of my drumming experience.

– EXPERIENCE; I’ve played as a professional drummer in many bands (Belgium) like ‘Citizen Jane’ (Jazz/Pop) for 5 years with one CD recording and many concerts. I’ve been a studio recording drummer and have worked 40 years as a drummer;  Live concerts, Recording drummer and albums with different rock bands, etc. I still do and learn of course!

– MY PROJECTS SINCE 2004 are; Wannislas(aka) and Abstinent Dazzle (Band). With these two projects, I make some Funky, Dance, Reggae, Rock & Jazz (Fusion) music.    In my third project; Johan Franz Lang (feat. Space Orchestra) I make a kind of contemporary chill-out, easy listening music. 

- I followed a sound engineering class for 2 years (age 29) and do the mastering for my albums and sometimes for other artists - 

° Now, I hope you will enjoy my music and I like to get comments and positive critics if there are some, and of course I appreciate too see some sharing of my music on social media!

Used to do a lot of video editing
It's much like the way I compose music
Continued this at home for fun
Then I started publishing musical 
albums and videos

Started music production in 2010
Classical compositions
Piano and Strings at first
Later on orchestral works, 
electronic music and mixes & mashups
Lately using my own & other voices

The first 3 albums were composed on the piano
No computer or editing involved, just demos
Lots of practice and recording, one track at a time
Later recorded in MIDI on the PC removing errors

After I started using MIDI much has changed
I don't compose on the piano any more
Most of my music is programmed

I have had plenty of musical training
violin, piano, drums and guitar
Don't practice often any more though
Mostly I work on my laptop

I use Reaper for music editing
