Breathe

This early experimentation is a composition by Robert Hoehn in collaboration with Jessica Rath. Using human voice interpretations of bee sound, this sound work includes resonance cues of bee foraging patterns, nest behavior and relation to mammals, and buzz pollination within the flower itself. The composition is based on the sound research of Dr. Stephen Buchmann, University of Arizona-Tuscon, and his extensive recordings of bee sonication. This original score will be used in the Jessica Rath's exhibition "Buzz Pollination" at the Theodore Payne Foundation in March 2014, using surface transducers to turn the large pane window into a speaker resonating this collective score. A full score is being developed for Rath's exhibition "A Better Nectar" at the University Art Museum at California State University, Long Beach, January 2014.
