Vainamoinen seeks three lost words to finish the building of his ship, and tramples the world in his search. A shepherd tells him that he must seek the dead hero Wipunen, who has been cast and buried in rock for millennia and has become part of the mountain, his mouth a cave and his tongue a spray of swords and axe blades. Vainamoinen enters with copper soles and down the tunnel of this throat, reaching the “spacious caverns” of his vitals, and once he is there Wipunen begins to sing. He sings for three days and three nights, casting his knowledge in wind and reciting each of his spells. Vainomoinen emerges, “ I have learnt a thousand magic words, and among them are the lost words that I sought"
