God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Here is a track off of my new record, 1835. The album is a collection of beloved hymns and spirituals, with a few originals as well. I had the privilege and pleasure of having my good friend, Jeremiah Duckett into the studio to play and sing on this one. We'd planned on just harmonies, however, we settled into trading off on the melody. This may be my favorite song on the album. Be Thou My Vision

Pulled straight from Psalm 51, we hear the writer's honest plea with his creator to change his heart. He knows he cannot do it himself. Without divine intervention, he will always remain the same; trapped in an unbreakable cycle of sin, shame, guilt, and empty promises to do better. Coming to the end of ourselves can be the best thing to happen in our lives.
