For me, this song (&amp; recording) is a tribute to a friend from the HS years, as well as a music project that came to be just for one performance. I asked Jim if he wanted to include a little comment about the piece & here is what he had to say:

"A Collector Of Enemies began as a film script idea. As I was creating characters and plot ideas, I also wrote music score concepts that would intertwine with these characters. The film will never be made, but this album exists as a soundtrack to the disjointed film in my head. This is meant to score our team of thieves as they go on the mission that the movie is centered around. The track started in 2010 with guitar ambiences that are now heard around the vocal section (pitched up in 2016) and the bass riff. I was interested in having a single note on the bass guitar be the foundation and guitar melodies on top. When we started tracking, I knew Robert would be perfect to play lead. His knowledge of effects was useful here. Kevin Fitchuk was engineering and I was able to concentrate on directing his guitar playing. Robert brought depth to the track and life to my rough ideas. This session was a highlight of making the album"

Stuck at home. It was only Day 2 of Coronavirus being a National State of Emergency and I was already potentially exposed to the Coronavirus. Therefore, played it safe & missed Sunday morning church.. Decided to record some random ideas as a way to “remain productive.” This came out as a result.

It's been a while... Time to get back at composing and recording original thoughts. Here's me riffing off of one idea on top of another, layering guitar parts as they come... I was also having fun with a new Reverb Pedal, and that's where we get the "Ambient Clouds" idea.
