#4 - More Than Ever

You may know the name of Lumbago for a few different reasons, and that is exactly how they like it. Whether it is down to the French electro label that is already responsible for fifteen releases under the imprint of the same name or the name of the Lyon DJ duo the result is the same. High-quality electronic music. Regulars on the French scene and further afield, their long-running Ninja Tools VA’s releases and full releases have welcomed a huge array of forward-thinking artists to their label and this will only grow and grow.

With this wide-screen view of the electronic landscape Lumbago has drilled right down into the raw modular sound and the result is a weaponised palette that is always primed to destroy the dancefloor. For their entry into our InSessions series, they make good on this promise with a finely curated collection of tracks that positively bristles with angular basslines, acid synth lines and blockbusting drums at every turn.

Heading up the sixth release on the prolific Bizarre Trax vinyl label is co-founder of the brand, Jhobei with his “Between Dreams & Delirium” EP. His distinct and animated sound shines bright from beginning to end as he showcases a multitude of vibes spread across five innovative cuts — the A-side providing a more serious and heady insight to his sought after repertoire, then on the flip you are served up an array of deep delicacies before rounding off the body of work in true Bizarre Trax fashion a playful, funk-fuelled explosion, nodding towards those festival moments we are all dreaming of this winter.

The man has multiple hats, he started the collective @super-daronne alongside Juniore, and Supercamp Festival. Since he arrived in Lyon you can find him on the frequencies of @lyl_radio, behind the counter at the audiophile bar @satrialelyon, and more recently at the Artistic Direction of Super 5. Most of all, he's a DJ, and a true dedicated one.

Su sonido se define por generar texturas y ritmos hipnóticos, con un claro enfoque en la pista de baile.

Inmerso de lleno en la producción, ha editado trabajos en sellos como Soma Records, Dynamic Reflection, Nachtstrom, Faut Section, Selected Records , recibiendo el apoyo de artistas como Adriana Lopez, Kangding Ray, Temudo, Lewis Fautzi, entre otros.
Sus sets se caracterizan por hacer vibrar a la pista a base de ritmos envolventes, siempre adaptándose al momento y lugar. 

En esta ocasión, ha realizado un set únicamente con trabajos propios.

20/20 Vision’s was founded on the idea of ‘perfect sight’.  We wanted people to have a clear vision of music. A big part of that musical vision was our influences from the origins of Electro music - from the original Electro Pop pioneers Kraftwerk and Yello to more experimental laboratories of Raymond Scott, Tomita, Wendy Carlos and the BBC Radiophonic workshop. We also loved the next wave of Electro from Detroit brought by Juan Atkins and Cybotron. All the early 20/20 Vision output was produced at Farmhouse Studios by Carl Finlow, who went on to record as Random Factor, Voice Stealer and Silicon Scally. Now that output is regarded as classic Electro. It now seems like a great moment again to dive back into the deep and find the next generation of electro artists…

Welcome Chris Roman aka 214 with the 'Ingalls Way’, a record filled with the kind of creativity and production skills we have become accustomed to with his music over the years. After previous outings on electro institutions Frustrated Funk and Central Processing Unit, 214 now appears for the first time on 20/20 Vision. From the atmospheric tones of ‘Potential Events’, the manic energy of ‘Windeye’ and the deeper grooves of ‘Back To Sine’, it’s an EP that leaves no stone unturned in the intergalactic sonic quest. 

On remix duties we have none other than Keith Tenniswood aka Radioactive Man, who also makes his first appearance on the label. Along with his work as Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall, Keith and his Radioactive output is generally regarded in the upper echelons of British electronic music and we’re really excited to have him feature on the label.

His roots go back to the 90 ́s when he was a pioneer of the Madrid Underground and Rave scenes. Nearly two decades of on-stage experience and collecting vinyl have made him a highly reputed DJ who has shared both stage and booth with major artists.
He remains loyal to vinyl and follows his own intuition more than he does trends. Betamax develops sets with the extensive collection he has built up over the past 20 years and is constantly evolving and harnessing initiatives.
For Betamax, a set is more about sensations and the story being told than it is
about styles and formal constraints. Each one he designs is met with the highest structural, musical and narrative detail and always strives to tell us something. He sees himself not as an artist but as an interpreter, a selector, and a relentless treasure seeker honing in on a unique ability to discover hidden gems for his timeless collection.
He began his studies as a young student at the Madrid Royal Conservatory, which provided him with an extensive musical background. He has developed musical good taste and an ear for mixing in a harmonious and well-rounded way.
Since 2017, he has been a resident of the Trama Club, a regular event in Madrid where light and sound generate community around dancing.
