Human DNA are formed by stringing together long chains of molecules called nucleotides in double helix structure. A nucleotide is made up of three chemical components: a phosphate, a five-carbon sugar group, and one of five standard bases (adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine or uracil). A gene is a basic unit of heredity and a sequence of nucleotides that encodes the synthesis of life. I imagined the creation of xeno organisms with the replacement of one base with another element ( the threose) building a three-dimensional structure instead of the natural DNA double helix structure.
Using the chemical formulas of the components of the new Xeno-DNA ,its new three-dimensional structure and interfacing them with mathematical formulas of graphic synthesis and movement , I create e Xeno-organism in different stages of cell proliferation :  Embryonic , Mitosis and Meiosis .

With Async Art you can crete rare musical artwork that can evolve dynamically over time with multiple owners with pre-defined state formed by images and music that changes periodically ( 4 times a day , every hours or created every time ) and update by a server.

“Pangea” is the name of the continent that contained all the land that emerged between 540 and 200 million years ago, in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic periods.The name "Pangea" means "all the earth" from the ancient Greek "παυ" = "all" and "γεα" = "earth".

The vast ocean that surrounded Pangea is called "Panthalassa", from the ancient Greek “παυ” = “all” and “θάλασσα” = "sea".

Man appeared on earth about 300,000 years ago, by which time the lands and oceans had divided, forming  Laurasia and Gondwana and then the world we know.

In this project I imagined that Pangea was inhabited by man and that a global culture was born without divisions created by borders, wars, religions or ethnic groups.

The music and images of Pangea unite all the cultures of the world:
Africa ( voices ), Middle East ( darbouka , ney ,  finger cymbals ) , Far East (veena , sarong ,tabla , mridangam , pipa lute), Europe ( piano , guitar , harp, marimba , clarinet ,flute, orchestra ) , America ( banjo ) and Oceania (voice ).

Art does not respect borders, it escapes ethnic groups, it does not care about religions but mixes among peoples creating surprising masterpieces.

The Async collection includes  100  single unique pieces generated by combinations of two main themes: Pangea and Panthalassa with 18 musical instruments from all parts of the world and 5 Legendary Editions.

Pangea Panthalassa : S.Reich & Balkans

The S.E.T.I. (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) project was officially born on February 1, 1985. It is the culmination of various research and studies aimed at searching for life in the universe. 
In 1977, the media sensation aroused the reception of a 72-second signal that went down in history as the "WOW!" message ( 6EQUJ5 ). The values (from 1 to 9 and from A to Z) indicate an intensity probably linked to an intelligent transmission.
The signal came from the constellation of Sagittarius, from a star called 2MASS 19281982-2640123 which is 1800 light years away from the earth. 
I have imagined that , for each of the different signal  strengths, there was a music transmission.

Jellyfish fossils have been found dating back more than 550 million years ago (Cambrian period), 250 million years before dinosaurs appeared on earth.Some of them are considered eternal animals, being able to transform themselves from jellyfish to polyps, in an eternal life cycle.When man and all other animals will be extinct on earth, jellyfish will be the only living beings that will populate our planet and, perhaps, will also learn to fly, living not only in the water but also in the air.And when jellyfish sleep, they often dream of music...

Over the past 10 years more than a million migrants have arrived from Africa on Italian shores and at least 30,000 people are believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea on their way to Italy. Many of them are women and children.
For us they are often just numbers communicated by the media, but what happens to them once they arrive? They often disappear, like ghosts….Who are they? , Where they come from ? , What did they do in their country? , What are they looking for? What are they running from?

99 African Women is a musical NFT that talks about migrant women: poor, rich, healthy, sick, Muslim, Catholic, animist, Orthodox, living in cities, in villages, in countryside, on the edge of rivers, on the sea, in the forest , sorceresses, witches, healers, nurses, doctors, graduates, computer scientists, workers, unemployed, prostitutes, drug addicts, homeless, models, photographers, girls, mothers, grandmothers, guerrillas, terrorists, soldiers, musicians, dancers, cooks, hungry, thirsty , hunters, sporty, sad, happy, thoughtful, scared, raped, wounded….

Music: it is a tribute to the English jazz pianist Keith Tippett (King Crimson, Centipede, Ark, Ovary Lodge), a great musician who passed away in June 2020, with whom I had the pleasure of playing in several live concerts.

A Cargo Cult refers to a social phenomenon where a group of people practices rituals and beliefs in the hope of receiving material wealth, often modeled after the behaviors of technologically advanced or colonizing cultures. The music contained in this EP is inspired by this bizarre syncretism between the technologically advanced West and ancient and remote cultures that have remained isolated for thousands of years and their interpretation of reality.

Persistence of vision refers to the optical phenomenon whereby an image continues to appear in the view for a brief instant after exposure to the original image has ceased. This effect arises from retinal afterimages, often referred to as "retinal persistence", by photoreceptors, filtered by the central nervous system, which remain active slightly beyond the cessation of the stimulus.
I imagined that this process could also be present in listening to music: a sound that could remain in our perception even after we have stopped listening to it.

Semar , in Javanese mythology ,frequently appears in wayang shadow plays. He is one of the punokawan (clowns), but is in fact divine and very wise. He is the dhanyang (guardian spirit) of Java,and is regarded by some as the most sacred figure of the wayang set.He is said to be the god Sang Hyang Ismaya in human form.[3][4]

Sabrina Zhao is a filmmaker and artist from Sichuan, China. Her films, driven by process, explore the harmony between nature and being through an abstract, non-narrative style. She studied Film and Literature at NYU Abu Dhabi and holds an MFA in Film from York University. Her films have been exhibited internationally at Berlinale, MoMA Doc Fortnight, Sharjah Film Platform.

Tarry not, O cloud is a feature length experimental film inspired by Kalidasa’s Sanskrit poem Meghaduta (The Cloud Messenger, 4th - 5th century CE) and Rick Jarow’s final publication, his study of the poem.

Kālidāsa’s Meghadūta (The Cloud Messenger) is one of the most celebrated works of classical Sanskrit literature, renowned for its lyrical beauty, emotional subtlety, and vivid geographic imagination.

The poem is divided into two sections:

1. Pūrva-megha (First Part):
   A lovesick yakṣa, cursed to live in exile for a year, encounters a rain cloud over the Vindhya mountains. He implores the cloud to carry a message to his wife in Alakā (the celestial city of Kubera, in the Himalayas). This section meticulously describes the cloud’s journey across the Indian subcontinent.

2. Uttara-megha (Second Part):
   The message itself, addressed to the yakṣa’s wife, expressing longing, fidelity, and hope, culminating in an intimate portrayal of separation (viraha).

Banished far from the one he desires, a delirious lover entrusts a passing cloud to deliver a message. The lover imagines the cloud’s journey across terrains, bodies, and shifting seasons. The cloud messenger does not travel directly, but drifts into diversions, where the route widens and feeling expands.

The Mosaic Project

The lure to recreate that old music atmospheres for letting them live is still great in me. Basically the project was inspired by John Oswald's work who coined the expression "Plunderphonics" (Plunderphonics : taking one or more existing audio recordings and altering them in some way to make a new composition). His work on Michael Jackson repertoire (with related legal case, i.e the cover: Michael Jackson's head on a female body...) was really clamorous. The idea was to record a tribute to the Third Ear Band just using their original music for recreating that musical poetic and the sensations they gave to me, playing the right instruments and looking for that pictures linked to their specific iconography (ancient Egypt, Alchemy, Druids...)

The soundtrack was recording at the " Palazzina Liberty" Milan, in 1998. Vampyr is not a silent movie but there is very little dialogue, so we sampled the spoken parts, transforming them into sounds to use in building our accompaniment. With Giovanni Venosta and Chris Cuttler

A Poetry Of Broken Hearts

I was born in Milan ( Italy ) and I studied alto sax and guitar. From 1974 to 1985 I traveled around the world for studying African , Indian and Near East & Far East music I recorded music " on field " and I have studied and collected ethnic musical instruments by all the parts of the world . 
I recorded LPs and CDs for different European labels : Raw Materials records , Victò , Recommended records , Lowlands Island ,  Auditorium , Voiceprint / Gonzo Multimedia ,  Music from Memory , Soave records , Goodfellas records. 
In 80' and 90' I broadcasted ethnic and electronic / experimental music from radio stations (Rai , Radio Popolare ). 
I composed and played music for videos and commercial spots , dance, live soundtracks for silent movie , for poems and theater . My LP "Water messages on desert sand", was Grammy-nominated in in UK on 1987. 
I developed digital interfaces for guitar (tactile and laser: "Extended Guitar") and I have developed video and audio installations where music and images changed togheter each other , in real time , triggered by movements , audio inputs and live cameras. 
From 80' till today I played with many Italian ,  European  and American musicians : Giovanni Venosta , Claudio Gabbiani , Walter Prati ,  Giorgio Magnanensi, Massimo Cavallaro , Tiziano Tononi , Daniele Cavallanti , Massimo Mariani , Moni Ovadia , Chris Cutler ,  Jon Rose , David Moss , Steve Piccolo , Elliott Sharp , Keith Tippett  , Third Ear Band  ( plunderphonics) .
