Artist Bio:
Cesare Marchese is an Italian-Polish artist now based in Brazil. He is a DJ, music producer-composer, sound engineer and A&R, founder of Serialism Records and Morning People. Having lived first in Milan in the 90s, then in London for almost a decade, Cesare relocated to Berlin a few years back. During his time there he held residencies and played regularly at the most influential clubs in between touring all over the world on top of releasing music on some of the most known Dance labels around. Now based in São Paulo for a few years, he's leaving his mark on Brazil's nightlife with a residency at D-Edge club and constant appearances at the best events around the country as well as composing Soundtracks for Films, TV series, Shorts, and Documentaries reaching and winning some prestigious Film Festivals worldwide. His background is eclectic, obsessive, ranging from classical piano studies and live drums to a deep passion for Jazz, Bossanova, Neo Soul, Electronica, Dub, Drum&Bass and Trip/Hip Hop. His discography stretches over for years and continents and includes major Indie labels such as Ninja Tune/Big Dada, Cocoon, Bpitch Control, Transmat, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical Music, Bedrock and tons of underground imprints, from Vakant to Watergate via Dumb Unit, Rawax, NervMusic or on his label Serialism that has been a reference in the Club industry for 15 years.

Any historian undertaking the task of chronicling the evolution of Canadian electronic music will undoubtedly find the name Mike Shannon featured prominently and frequently in its narrative.

Respected for his deep crates and lightning fast mixing skills, as well as being an internationally lauded producer, Mike has as well shown an uncanny ability to select and release tracks on his in the 90ties founded label Cynosure, which have become go-to fixtures in the sets of the industry’s best DJs. And while some may suggest he has gravitated towards smoother, deeper selections as the years go by, those in the know will tell you he has few equals when it comes to whipping dance floors into a relentless techno frenzy should you catch him on a night with that mischievous twinkle in his eye! 

As a live performer Mike Shannon has explored a wide range of musical directions, from the ambient jazz leanings of his Blue Fields project alongside a rotating ensemble of musicians and vocalists, as well as the collaborative techno project Dewalta and Shannon, which sees the two flex there creative muscle using an extensive rig of modular synthesizers and drum machines.

Throughout the last decades, Mike Shannon's steadfast curatorial vision and unquestionable passion for the music have earned him the trust of discerning music connoisseurs worldwide.

Cesar Merveille takes the low road on this week's Source To Cycle podcast, and exposes the dirty underbelly of house and techno in this raw undiluted Cycle mix.

Having begun his DJ career spinning records in London's legendary sleazy hole-in-the-wall - the now defunct T Bar (as well as places like Lo*kee and Fabric) - Cesar has grown accustomed to playing at such naughty events and whenever he does find himself playing in more conventional surroundings, he'll take control of the party like no other. He is always the last man standing (just ask the unfortunate promoters that have to put up with his boundless enthusiasm).

Perhaps that might explain why Cesar Merveille plays the way he does. Instead of pushing energy levels beyond their natural place, Cesar uses his music to entice, coerce, and tickle the dancefloor into choosing which door, which path, which groove to take. The choice is always theirs, as Cesar Merveille is not the sort of DJ to ram something unsavory down our throats. He understands how to run a marathon, and as this podcast demonstrates, it always flows very smoothly.
