This Live set was recorded for SubRadio’s anniversary and prepared specifically for the occasion using as set up a Roland Tr-808, Eurorack modular system and various recordings from the Plants Army Revolver.
What a strong experience we experienced, we couldn't have asked for a better streaming to celebrate our two years. Setting of the flight we have enjoyed an out of this world Live set by the hand of the Plants Army Revolver on board countless modular connections, drum machines (that beautiful 808) and their characteristic sound synthesis, always deep, always analog and accompanied in complete harmony by the visual constructions of the great Ruben Castillo. 
Broken and paused rhythms, deep atmospheres of an organic character without equal, enveloping textures in constant expansion and endless hypnotic constructions acting on various points of the body and mind. A true harmonic, mental and esoteric journey to float peacefully around the cosmos through a carefully crafted progression of beautiful soundscapes.

Out with old, in with the bold… Pets prepare us for a fresh new year start with an early-ears peak at what they have in store for 2017. It starts right here with a techno maestro who – thanks to a deep stash of thoroughbred beats on Soma, Hypercolour, Echocord and Kontra – shouldn’t require much of an introduction: Roberto Clementi. 
Resident at Harmonized – one of Italy’s finest underground club institutions – here we find Roberto analysing his role at its fullest flex: the range, versatility and subtlety and the almost important need to master all shades of the night: the ability to set the scene and prepare the countdown, knowing when to play the lead and knowing how to bring things home with respect to the dancefloor who make the party every single trip.  
It begins with ‘Avesys’ in every possible way: its dubby warmth, rippling rhythmic elements and patient percussive builds (all wrapped up with soft-but-stern insistency), don’t just mark the perfect tone and timbre of an on-point take off set, but also trigger the whole full-spectrum, deep space EP concept. Scene setters don’t come any clearer. 
‘Voschod’ follows with a one-way trip into space as we explore the lesser-told half of the 60s space race and the Russian’s second wave manned spacecraft trips. You can almost hear the countdown as the kicks rumble beneath you and you can definitely feel the fire power and low end thrust when the full track takes off. Peaktime Clementi; guaranteed lead-taking material.  
Maintaining the outer planetary sensation, ‘Landing A Man’ spins us into gravity-free stasis with an historic homage to Kennedy’s ambition to land a man on the moon. Looping up the respected president with trippy, head-turning results he utilises a drum set so wide and cliff-like you can feel the earth’s orbit and gravity drawing you back to terra firma with weight and confident firmness. Bringing it home… Only to shoot you back into space again very soon. Happy new future everyone.

After a short hiatus, Roberto Clementi return to Soma with the Never Ending Mirage EP. Making his debut on Soma almost 6 years ago, Clementi has wowed with his beautifully crafted, signature dub infused Techno sound - eventually releasing his first full length, N Lights in 2014. He has since been working hard to refine his sound even further and this latest EP has something a bit tougher in store whilst staying true to his sound.

609 opens the release and has Clementi on suitably deep and emotive form. Well crafted drums and percussive elements set the pace as sweeping, ethereal pads create a moving and elegant piece. Title track Never Ending Mirage toughens things up a little but still retains Clementi's immersive aesthetic. Broken beats charge down more cinematic feeling pads and strings, tied together by electrifying synths. Final track Swarms takes a more DJ tool approach - looped out synth hooks evolve and manoeuvre against a backdrop of pulsating rhythmic structures.

Roberto Clementi è l'ospite che abbiamo scelto per questo nuovo appuntamento della serie Internal Selection. Il diciottesimo podcast di stampo dancefloor, techno oriented arricchito da punte acid, ci porta nella dimensione di uno degli artisti di musica elettronica più creativi della scena underground italiana. Dopo il recente debutto su Steadfast Records di Brendon Moeller e Soma Records, degli ultimi due anni, Clementi è diventato uno degli artisti che proprio grazie a queste release si è potuto distinguere notevolmente dalla massa trovando un posto di spicco tra le miglior label al momento.
Più che visto come il "solito" produttore/sound designer, la sua visione e passione per la musica, gli ha permesso di prendere una strada evolutiva chiara, che l'ha portato sempre più ad una crescita artistica solida e definita all'interno del panorama musicale contemporaneo.

Internal Selection 018: Roberto Clementi

Italian sound designer and Soma alum Roberto Clementi steps up with a MOC-worthy release comprised of three original tracks with BNJMN on remix duties.
Standout track 'Plebiscite' makes a statement from the first bar with a pounding bassline. It’s a clae peak time heavy-hitter that energizes with its shriek, alarm-like highs and understated yet powerful percussion.
Just off the stride of releasing his third studio album, BNJMN puts on his remixer hat to take on the leading track, adding an ethereal dimension through evocative pads and percussive rattles.
On the flipside, 'Evocate' skewes dark and minimalist with a simple lead and eerie-laden somber sequences. Simplicity proves itself just as compelling as more complex layering, rendering an overall dance-inducing atmosphere.
Acid-laced 'Cription' spells techno in a more experimental, non-kickdrum reliant manner. It’s a refreshing take on the genre in a piece that is
reminiscent of early rave days.

Roberto Clementi’s sparkling new EP spans a diversity of styles, all imprinted with his own unique sound. This relative newcomer to Soma has proved a great match for the iconic Glasgow label, producing consistently high-quality tracks. His innovation and vision are clear on this single, which is his second release through Soma.

The EP kicks off with Viper, which ignites the release from the first bar. The imposing bass hints at a darker sound and the thunderous synth creates a powerful sense of atmosphere. A dubby, industrial feel spreads through the track. These undertones are capitalised on with the electrifying break-downs and drops running through, all lifted with the brushed tones of the intricate drum patterns. This is a fantastic start to the EP and a track to get lost in.

Retro Chords is the next track and takes a different direction with an endorphin drenched and upbeat sound. Ecstatic, bright synths and ethereal organs help to build a warm melodic structure to the track and conjure a pleasing sense of nostalgia within this retrospective. Elements of Balearic beats and heady, celebratory times are key to the sound of this stylish track.

Overrule adds another fresh perspective to the release. A staunch powerful rhythm drives this track from the outset and makes an immediate impression. The sounds melt into liquid synths and delicate space and this balance of fluid melody and bold rhythm make this an exciting track.

Mesm completes this expansive album and extends the dub elements. The echoing refrains spiral off and merge with the sweeping backdrop panning and swirling harmoniously. The strong rhythm and melody line provide a powerful anchor to these intricate sounds and during the track energetic, pumping beats heat it up creating a raucous mix. As the track fades out it becomes sparser and darker and flows away intriguingly.

This EP is the perfect expression of Clementi and showcases his talents as a producer, combining great skill with distinctive, fresh ideas to create a striking new sound, which, signals a bright and prolific future with Soma.
