Why alter a masterpiece if you can't make it any better? A lot of the new arrangements, especially the generic choirs and overused and totally unnecessary "epic drum" riffs simply made it sound average. The effort is something that I can appreciate, but it gave me the feeling of watching the Gus van Sant remake of Psycho. It's almost a shot by shot remake, and yet, it doesn't work. Kinda l'art pour l'art. Pity.

The loss of a beloved pet is very traumatic. My friends Robert and Jane lost their bulldog Livy to lymphoma recently. This composition is dedicated to them, and of course, Livy. The photo in the art work is by Robert Holmes.

"Liza’s Last Stand" is the hymn of the night when a child dared to remain standing against cruelty. Through tears and blood, Liza raised her arms in the shape of a cross against corrupt men, holding within her fragile body a force far greater than her age. Her magic, shaped since childhood by her father Vertere’s teachings of self-defense, found in pain and loss the channel that made it overflow — a silent cry transformed into power.

Each chord of the song carries the weight of her struggle: fear turned into resistance, innocence breaking into fury, a flame that burns even when the wind grows stronger. ‘Liza’s Last Stand’ is not only about the battle against Gregor and William, but about the very moment when Liza became more than Vertere’s daughter — she became a symbol of defiance and courage against the darkness.
