For CoziMix 09 we welcome Prague based legend, patricccio! 
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where his interest in sound first sparked from his brother, who’s a great musician and film scorer. After moving to Prague in 2016, his interests deepened further, as the local music scene inspired him to learn how to DJ. At the same time he became involved in other related fields, working as a lighting designer for Kave in 2020, and he continues to create light installations for here and there. He tends to dive into tribal and trippy genres, often full of bassy, deep, and percussive sounds. But always with unexpected twists.

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?


12 years ago a friend of mine was getting rid of this tiny pioneer controller and he ended up giving it to me. Wasn’t very consistent until around 2018-2019. The scene in Prague provoked in me an endless desire and curiosity to dive into this world. 


2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?


Those endless Claudio PRC’s residency nights at Ankali (2017-2018) with incredible guests such as Jane Fitz and Wrong Assessment. Sounds I never heard before. But most recently a night that I will never forget is Amphibian x Deviant party. With sounds I never experienced in the club before… local artist Atch22 blew my mind plus the headliners Amor Satyr and Siu Mata. Hypnotizing in a different way.


3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the industry?


Definitely an extrovert, very outgoing. Of course, like everyone, I need space and time for myself. I deal with a lot of people since I mainly work at the bar in the club (Ankali, Prague). 

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to? :)

I put together playlists and listen to them constantly (every goddam day), add and get rid of stuff everyday. I filter it one last time before actually organizing it on rekordbox. Play the tracks for a bit, and I’m good to go.

₀₂₁ 𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗵𝘆𝗼𝗼

Dutch-born but Brussels-based Zeta Lys aka Lucia (@zetalys) has a club-ready sound that draws on a world of broken rhythms and heavy percussion. Her influential radio show at The Word Radio finds her head into all new genre pockets around the globe and she has previously stood out at our Dekmantel Selectors festival. Lucia also composes for film and video and techniques from both disciplines inform and inspire her work with the result being music that is rich in dynamic narrative and ever-evolving mood. 

Her selection for us is prickly and fizzing with fresh rhythmic patterns. Static electricity, warped basslines and distorted synths bring great movement from the off as mutated and broken techno, dystopian jungle and deconstructed club rhythms all collide at great speed. It's an involving selection that combines many different worlds with great control, ramping up and then smoothing out the grooves at whim.

 Kavil is an artist, DJ and founder of Melbourne-based record label, Absorb. With an ear for fickle textures and unwonted forms, Kavil compiles moving soundscapes designed to stretch the boundaries of electro-acoustic music.

As a curator, Kavil is known for his work on his label's 30-hour experimental festival, ABSORBED and  bimestrial program on LYL Radio. He is also responsible for the collation of the revered Bleus mix series and the co-curator of Make It Up Club, an institution that has presented weekly avant-garde and improvised sound performances in Naarm since 1998.
