I guess I didn't really know where my heart is. About a year and a half ago I remember suddenly having a dialogue with myself, well a part of myself I was never aware of before this. Down the line a bit I remember asking my Therapist - 'So am I mad having this voice in me? talking to the different parts of myself?' and she replied, looking in my eyes with a slight smirk - 'Well it makes a few of us then.' Since then I have become more aware of my feelings and been able to know myself by asking questions and listening in a way I had never thought of or could have imagined earlier in my life. I think as a child I wasn't able to know myself for fear of being hurt. And now it is painful knowing myself at times but - it's also amazing. So I write this all because I want to introduce a new piece I have made. I have been lucky enough to work with Shawanda Corbett on some music for an upcoming performance of her's. I feel my own inner world exploration over the last year has been vital for me finding the confidence and depth to be part of this project and Shawanda has opened my eyes and senses to something new. She asked me to meditate for 25 minutes focusing on my Sola-plexus, I then picked up my Horn and started to play. I focused in on the energy I could feel in my Heart and Sola-plexus - this guided me through. I started sat cross-legged on the floor and you hear me saying 'stand up' mid way through. Shawanda will be using the piece in a performance she is recording at home for the Serpentine Gallery's social media so she urged me to release the recording.

So, I hope you can find a relaxed state to listen to this improvisational French Horn piece - It's what I feel, and after the work I've done with myself I couldn't have done it without you ♥️ My Heart ♥️
