A few Steps to heaven

Ok, first let me address the elephant in the room. This is VERY John Lennon. When the first line popped into my head and I started humming a tune (taking the kids to a swimming lesson, for what it's worth) my immediate thought was, "Oh, I appear to be writing 'God' by John Lennon". The sentence structure is basically the same, and I'm also aware he wrote a song which features the words 'Love is...' quite frequently!

Anyway, I ultimately came to the conclusion that I DON'T REALLY CARE. When I was a kid I had a poster of (Instant Karma period) Lennon on my bedroom wall. Then through my 20s and 30s, I went a bit cold on him. I thought he was spiky, obnoxious, a contrarian. And then watching the Get Back documentary, I kind of fell back in love with him. Yes, he was still some of those bad things, but also a beautiful, very gentle human too. 

Think of this, therefore, as a love letter to John Lennon. A bit weird on Valentine's Day, I know, but that's where we are.
