Opie interviewed a number of Hodgkins’ friends and fellow artists in England, including Douglas Glass, Geoffrey Gorer, Barbara Hepworth, Eardley Knollys, Henry Moore, Cedric Morris, Ben Nicholson, Jane Saunders and Katherine West.

Margaret Kennedy's bestselling novel The Constant Nymph (1924) is the book featured in this episode of Backlisted. Joining John and Andy to discuss this tale of romance, passion and bohemianism - and the chequered career of its author - is publisher Alexandra Pringle. Please note: some aspects of this novel will be shocking to modern readers; meaningful discussion would be both difficult and limited without reference to them. Cambridge-based singer Robjn not only worked in the fields of Graphic Design and Video Art before becoming a writer on British Art, alongside his music-making. Something of a serial collaborator working in the bands Laserlong and Cliff Child he also has sung for film composer Justin Marshall Elias (Circle, 2015) and sung for musicians all over the globe (Michael Loop, Alexander Stroeer, Secret Piano, InADream). He also works singing for himself or singing and remixing for others.
