Toronto based imprint Inner City Dance returns with another instalment in their evolving "In Our City" series.   Volume 2 of the project expands its reach to curate six fresh slices of modern Drum & Bass from some of the most vital artists operating out of the long standing scenes newest wave of creativity.

Regular Inner City alum Artifice returns with "Badman", once again putting his stand alone production aesthetic  on display.  Expertly layered Jungle breaks create a tribal swing leading up to a massive elastic bass line that takes control of your body. Artifice's trademark penchant for textures and atmospheres shines through out with meticulous edits twisting and turning the groove up and down  while the various "Badman" vocal samples stick their chest out through the mix. Another stellar contribution from one of Toronto's maverick artists.

Episode 392 brings us a mix from a talented dj/producer out of the Netherlands, Yorobi!

Yorobi has collaborated with Tim Reaper on 2 firing releases on the labels Discworld and Parallax Recordings, one of which I am happy to say I own on vinyl:) Drumtree, what a tune! In addition to her releases, Yorobi hosts a bi-weekly show on jungletrain.net, Sunday's from 5-7 pm GMT, for us Americans on EST, that's 1-3 pm. The show is entitled, Polyclinique Redux, the next show will air on Sunday, August 9th, so, you better check it out!

Yorobi's mix is summertime, soulful vibes, melding old school tunes with newer, forthcoming tracks! The razor sharp breaks combining with heavy amens to mash things up! Check the track list for a new Yorobi tune in the pipeline! Yorobi crushes this mix!

Let's meet our selectah for this mix, Yorobi:
Yorobi (real name Josje Bijl) is an Amsterdam based dj who started out dj-ing in the 1999 after getting introduced to a pirate radio station (Nautic  Radio Groningen) in her home town of Groningen. 
What started out as hosting for a pirate radio station and getting well known dj’s to talk about their careers and random party goers to express inner ruminations, turned into her buying some records and to practice dj-ing in the studio of the radio station and at friends who had mk1210’s. 
Josje got her own show at the local pirate station and the shows focused strongly on Drum and Bass, Hip Hop & Electro, inviting guests from all over town and occasionally hosting the odd internationally known dj.  She debuted as a dj in the basement of Vera (a club in Groningen).  After that she played all over the country alongside local and internationally known dj’s , as well as in the UK & in Belgium.  In 2006 she relocated to http://jungletrain.net/ , where she’s still broadcasting her bi-weekly live show. 
You can catch her live in various bars and clubs around Amsterdam, mainly at OT301, Hill Street Blues, Melkweg, Hunters Grand Café or an illegal rave somewhere outdoors. She can be found more and more around Europe these days. This year she’s played in London for the legendary Rupture night as well as for a night called Deviate in Berlin. 
Yorobi’s style is fairly eclectic, ranging from introspective half time to (old skool & future) jungle, footwork & slowfast. Basically anything with heavily syncopated drums, lush pads and heavy bass lines. 
2020 sadly saw the cancellations of most of her gigs, but on the positive side also her debut as a producer, with two colabs being released on Parallax Recordings and Disc World alongside Tim Reaper.
