We took a stab at an absolute progressive house classic from 1999 - the iconic Perception by Cass & Slide! We decided to slow it down a little and take it in more of a Northern Exposure, atmospheric breakbeat direction with a slight Balearic feel.

Oh Well...

Better Daze is a mid set to peak time techno chugger with a rolling baseline and hypnotic atmospherics. As it builds, distant guitar strums begin to emerge along with some ethereal pads until the beat drifts away leaving the listener floating along, mesmerized by the melancholic Pink Floyd-esque guitar. The buildup begins with some staccato strums but soon an epic synth lead builds with volume and energy. The drop is definitely a hands in the air, hair stand up on your neck moment with the lead synth and vocal snippets carrying the listener from a feeling of melancholy to one of hope and joy. The song tapers off gently, making it a great long blend for DJs.

Here is our remix of one of the all time classic 80s jams by Depeche Mode. We took a small sample of the chugging beat and some atmospherics (along with the iconic vocal) and built a mesmerizing, floating, trippy melodic techno stormer, perfect for those 2am dance floor moments. Tendrils of Twilight starts off in a more somber tone with a unique swishing ride cymbal to carry it along. The layers build upon each other, becoming more intense and emotional before a light drop, then it builds back up again with more ambience, pads, and a fantastic acid line that takes the listener off to another world. This is a perfect closer or sunrise tune full of energy and uplifting vibes.

Melodic Frequencies - 007

Negentropy is literally negative entropy, it represents a system's potential for growth, complexity, and efficient function. Given I have an unusual notion of the origin and progression of life, I can state I fully believe our universe is driven by negentropy, not entropy. 

It's also a track in this week's set, and a good one! I really enjoyed playing this set, it's bit more on the purely prog side than many I've done, but that's what I found this week. I hope you enjoy it, and keep growing!

Captivating the underground house scene, this DJ is a master at weaving together 16 fresh tracks of underground house each week, delivering a live set that's recorded and shared with the world on SoundCloud. 

A true aficionado of the genre, his mixes explore the depths of underground house, including progressive, deep, tech, and minimal styles. Their signature style can be described as a spacey, trippy, and flowing journey that effortlessly spans various subgenres, taking listeners on a sonic odyssey that transcends the mere concept of a setlist.

The roots of this sound are deep and nourishing, sprouting from a childhood home reverberating with the sounds of big band, jazz, showtunes, classical, and the pop and rock anthems of the 1960s. This diverse musical upbringing birthed an eclectic taste in the young DJ, who, as a teenager, was magnetically drawn to the burgeoning world of electronic music.
