[PREMIERE] OneFootStep & Nitrate - The L [Feng Shit Records]

The 10th release of katharsis is the album “Matter Out Of Place” by @merdhlaleh , which will come out on April 15th. It will be the first physical release of the label, manufactured in an edition of 49 cassette tapes. Behind the Merdh Laleh moniker is the Copenhagen-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Valdemar Kragelund, who released his debut album “Water For Your Eyes” in 2019 on the danish label Petrola 80.

This second release of the artist is a collection of tracks and sketches made from vastly different perspectives and in divergent conditions, but which peculiarly made sense when put together in the context of the album. Consequently, the album seems to be a reflection on things that do not fit into a context. Themes of ostracism, the socially disadvantaged, shattered dreams and a lack of hope permeates the sonic atmospheres with deviating glimpses of serene and nostalgic
memories framed in sound.

The artist, who besides his Merdh Laleh moniker functions as one third of the experimental jazz trio Køs and as the keyboardist in the dark theatral rock band Josiah Konder, weaves together arcane synth-melodies with eerie vocals and hallowed saxophones to a veil of unsound laments. With katharsis-founder jjjacob contributing with the artwork and mastering, “Matter Out Of Place” sends the listener on a delirious journey, trying to understand the metaphysics of being the missing piece in a puzzle within a context you are not aware of.

Inspired by René Laloux's film and the universe that emerges from it, Safar unveils his second EP composed of 5 deep yet percutive tracks which emulates a feeling of melancholy evolving throughout the project.
La “Planète Sauvage” is a poetic adaptation of Stefan Wul's novel. Representing humans reduced to the rank of pets of the gigantic Draags, Laloux stages a reflection on intelligence, society, politics and human nature.
The Draags live on the planet Ygam. Their existence flows slowly, entirely turned towards meditation. The children of the Draags love tiny pets, the Oms, brought back from a distant and devastated planet, Terra. Some Draags even consider this species as a pest.
A rise in power unfolds along the first side with broken and lunar rhythms.
The second side invites us to a slow and deep dance with pads sending our body and mind in this fascinating world.
