The Lowdown
Phil Weeks and Robsoul Recordings kick off their 15th year in house music with a new three track EP from the main man himself.  Live At Palladium has been the standout track of Phil’s sets over the last few months, always generating a queue of people asking what it is.  You may just recognize the Marvin Gaye sample, which was also previously “borrowed” by Moodymann.  It comes backed with the funk-infused You Want My Love and the soaring, chugging groove of Demain A Jamais, and looks set to get another year off to a flying start for one of the finest labels in underground house music.

Robsoul Recordings boss Phil Weeks returns with a brand-new collaborative outing, reuniting in the studio with one of his oldest friends and long-time label staple, Joss Moog, for the Dee Lite EP.
Friends since their youth, Phil was among the first to spot Joss’s budding talent in his early productions. Since then the pair have shared a rich history of projects, though it’s been some time since they last joined forces on fresh material. With Dee Lite, the wait is over.
The EP opens with the elasticated rhythm and woozy organ groove of the title track, presented in both Original and Jackin’ mixes – the latter adding extra bump, flex and dancefloor punch. Hool follows with swinging percussion, twinkling keys and ghostly chords, before the duo close with Free Yourself, a slap-bass-driven mutant groove layered with handclaps and echoing vocal textures.
A reunion of two of Robsoul’s most defining voices, Dee Lite is a classy slice of deep, funk designed to move bodies and lift spirits.

This time, he’s swapped out the sweetness for something far rawer, delivering three straight-up, 90’s-fuelled house cuts on his brand-new release, ‘To The Floor’.
Driven by dusty drum grooves, rolling funk basslines and disco-tinged loops, Caira’s latest offering is a love letter to the golden era of house while keeping his signature modern punch intact. Each track is stripped back, unpretentious and laser-focused on one thing: working the dancefloor.

Longtime house purveyors Natural Rhythm make their debut on Robsoul Recordings with a three-track statement: the ‘Mighty Minotaur’ EP. Featuring the heavyweight title cut, the disco-tipped ‘Yo Disco’, and its stripped-down counterpart ‘Yo Drums’, the release marks a powerful reunion for the duo.
The spark came from a single piece of gear: the Moog Minotaur synthesizer, which provided the EP’s rumbling bassline and its namesake. As the duo describe it, “we loved the way that analog Moog sound comes into the mix so much, we visualized a mythical (and mighty) minotaur bursting out of the woods – and it felt right.”
Equally important is the spirit of reconnection. Though now separated by distance – one member based in Southern California, the other living further north in Canada – the pair leaned on technology to re-establish their creative partnership. The result is a project that nods to their earliest days: looping grooves, hands-on effects manipulation, analog filters, echoes, and that unmistakable warmth achieved by recording straight through a valve DJ mixer.
In true Natural Rhythm fashion, the EP captures the loose, groovy energy of their legendary live sets, when the duo would haul an entire studio rig onto the stage to create house music in real time. That raw and spontaneous ethos aligns perfectly with Robsoul’s own heritage, making ‘Mighty Minotaur’ both a fitting debut and a triumphant homecoming to their roots.

Ibiza-based producer John Fritz kicks off a shimmering new chapter on Robsoul with 'French Touch #1’ - the first half of an eight-track, two-part love letter to the golden age of filtered House. It’s a project rooted in nostalgia but built for modern dancefloors: a tribute to the time when French producers in bucket hats and robot helmets changed club music forever.
“Some tracks are deeply rooted in the classic French Touch sound, while others reflect the diverse influences I’ve gathered over the years,” says John.
Opener ‘Ouh La La’ was born in lockdown after he got his hands on a legendary 3630 compressor. “I totally overcooked it,” he admits, but its rediscovery years later sparked something raw and sexy: pure underground heat, sans chichi.
‘Fédération Française du Filtre’ follows with a full-bodied ode to artists including Daft Punk, Cassius, and Étienne de Crécy - the heroes who first lit the fuse. Expect heavy filters, euphoric tension and a thumping kick made for basement dancefloors.
On ‘Another Funk’, Fritz channels his Ibiza energy into something darker. Hypnotic guitars, 909 rides, and that unmistakable Amador-style darker edge. Finally, ‘80’s Lover’ takes a left turn into minimal territory, blending clinical samples and after-hours vibes.
A perfectly formed homage and a knowing nod to a sound that shaped a generation, 'French Touch #1' is warm, playful, and timeless. A reminder that some grooves never fade.

John Fritz makes a quick return with 'French Touch #2’ - a continuation and conclusion of his heartfelt homage to the golden age of House. If Part One celebrated the genre’s glittering, filtered heart, Part Two digs deeper, exploring the grooves, grit and swing that defined a generation of French producers who had that special ‘touch'.
Opening track ‘Speak Easy’ sets the tone: stripped-down, looping and raw, it’s classic Robsoul material, full of that US-influenced bump, but refined with a distinctly European flair. Next up, ‘Filtre Er Funky’ turns the energy up a notch with a buzzing, ghetto-tinged rhythm and John's signature filter play. “I love how filter-effects shape loops,” he says. “This one was recorded live, jamming the filters, tweaking the kick pitch in real time. It’s like a mosquito dancing in the air.”
‘Tech House’ serves as a nostalgic nod to John’s formative years on the dancefloor. Nights spent at Paris’s iconic Rex Club, lost in Phil Weeks’ Get Underground sessions with Didier Allyne on warm-up duties. Deep, hypnotic, and driving, it’s a love letter to that mid-2000s groove pioneered by David Duriez and the Robsoul faithful.
Closing things out, ‘Boom Boom Jack’ is the project’s exclamation mark, a must-have DJ tool built on modular synth basses, tight conga loops, and clever filtering. “I designed this jam to be timeless,” says John. “Suitable for any moment in a DJ set.”
A fitting finale to a project steeped in passion, precision and Parisian soul.

Fresh from steering us to the dancefloor with his ’Nightdriver’ EP on Robsoul – and a remarkable showcase on
Djebali earlier this month – Leiden craftsman Chris Stussy returns to Phil Weeks’ pedigree house imprint with
four more prime cuts of uncut house gold.
“Boogie Trippin” sums up the experience consummately as hip-flared jacks are wrapped with shimmering
touches and subtle filtered chords sweeps back and forth in the background. It’s backed up by three more
groove delights; “Flow Distinction” is shuffled and introspective but warm, gradually uplifting and laced with a
smoky alluring vocal, “Next To You” is a mid-evening slinky-piece with shiny percussive elements slithering over
the low-passed groove that gently opens out into a divine breakdown while “Selfless State” is a down home
peaktimer that flickers between lean jacks and a blazed disco break. Watch out of that swooping soul vocal as
it croons in overhead… Powerful stuff.
A firm face on the Robsoul roster now, Stussy’s getting hotter with every record. Don’t sleep.

Jade Cox takes the lead. Back on the label where she started her career, ‘Realise’ digs deep into roots with a fat bassline, a sun-kissed sample and more filters than the Silk Cut factory. The bulbous bassline pressure continues as Jade is followed by Paul Najera & Jr. Quijada who make their long overdue Robsoul debut with overtly funky ‘Go Dancing’. 
They’re not the only new arrivals… Elsewhere Frosted bossman Max Hebert makes his debut on Phil Weeks’ label with the springy Chi-town feels of ‘Push The Button’ while hotly-tipped Spanish newcomer Calabasa concludes the EP with the dusty jazz scribbles and funk blasts of ‘Catching Wesley’. With vibes as fine as this, we’re pretty sure he won’t just catch Wesley but he’ll overtake and overlap him. What a way to make a label introduction. What another fine Sampler of Robsoul’s many shades and sounds. Bon appetite!

Phil Weeks is a house music purist. Whether DJing or producing, the Parisian with the huge personality delivers raw beats influenced in equal measure by
classic Chicago house and nu‐school French flair, underpinned with a hip‐hop attitude. His long running Robsoul Recordings also defines him as one of the
most skilled label heads in underground house music.
In the studio Phil is dedicated to classic hardware like Akai’s MPC 3000 sampler and Roland’s TR909 drum machine. He has released more than 250 tracks and
remixes since his debut in 2000, working with labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which
is responsible for the majority of his original output. 

Phil’s work can also be found in the collaborations Fries & Bridges (with Hector Moralez) and PS Project/Bubba Beats & Kid Piston (with DJ Sneak). Production highlights include Phil’s three albums ‘Love Affair’ (2011), ‘Yeah I Like That’ (2003) and ‘Raw Instrumental’ (2012), alongside style‐defining singles ‘Hypnose’, ‘It Put Me Well’ and ‘All Day Every Day’. The music has been
heavily supported by international dance press including achieving accolades such as MixMag’s and De‐Bug’s ‘Album Of The Month’, while DJs ranging from
Danny Howells and Yousef to Mark Farina and DJ Sneak consistently play his tracks. Behind the decks, Phil has racked up enough air miles to take him around the
world several times over, with appearances at the world’s leading house clubs ‐ Queen’s Club, Sankeys, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics and Stereo are
all regular haunts, alongside his Paris residency ‘Get Underground’ at the infamous Rex Club.

Phil has also fully embraced the relationship with his fans and house music fans in general – whether through his popular ‘Underground Chronicles’ video diaries
on Youtube or his personal relationships on Facebook.
Despite his success Phil isn’t one to brag. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to prove Phil Weeks is a house music purist.
