The Tuba Twooz duo makes a welcome debut on Get Physical Music with a two-tracker that shows off their rich house sounds. 

Tuba Twooz is a live electronic project based between Moscow and Milan. They have established themselves with a nuanced house sound and electric DJ sets all over Europe. They have appeared on respected labels like Sol Selectas, The SoundGarden and Bar 25/Sirin and continue their fine form with this debut for Get Physical. 

The enchanting 'This Generation' opens up with a quiet sense of artistry. The deep house grooves are embellished with shimmering chords and whispered vocals that draw you in close. Carefully layered shakers, hits and muted melodies add to the richness of this most tender tune. 'People' is a more unhinged affair. It rides up and down a lumpy groove with sweeping chords and diving bass bringing real dynamism. This time the vocals are treated and twisted into wordless sounds and help add to the trippy nature of the groove. 

‘This Generation EP’ continues to mark out Tuba Twooz and their singular take on house music.

After the great success of Solomun’s Love Recycled EP, 2DIY4 is back with the second installment of the series. The `Various Artists’ EP showcases work by fresh talents as well as proven producers. A1 ‘Deep in the Three’ by Thyladomid &amp; Adriatique is a groovy beast with a chunky bass-line, playful organic percussion and Feist’s irresistible vocal. The track has already been receiving great response on the dancefloor. On the Flip ‘Young Girl’ a rework by Peter Kruder, member of the legendary Kruder&amp;Dorfmeister, has a more mysterious vibe. The haunting, stretched vocal is counter-parted by a catchy groove that maintains the drive to the song. B2 ‘No Giggity’ by the young australian producer Gary Todd gets the groove on. Giving a r&amp;b ultra-classic a fresh polish he creates a catchy tool for the dancefloor.

Karmaâ strings together pearls of analogue and digital beauty, creating an intriguing thread of thoughts and emotions that straps us to his groove. The track Aisha Kandisha is built around a lively double bass and an oriental vocal sample – but it draws just as much thrust and power from the fascinating fact that only in the realm of electronic music bad can sometimes be good – listen to the badass lead synthesizer, feel it kicking your ass... and you know what this is supposed to mean. Pophop adds a moment of trippy playfulness through the skipping movement of his bassline, together with the driving hihats this tune is made to be played on a big, loud sound system. The casual Downbeat track Amarhar spreads easy-going synthetic retro vibes and makes use of some carefully hidden ethno effects. Finally Hafla Souk brings this EP to a sunny and melodic conclusion, leaving us in thoroughly positive, dreamy state of mind.

March 15th finds Get Physical serve up a second EP taken from their excellent India Gets Physical album following a initial release from Kone Kone. Indian born, German house hero Pawas serves up the originals here, with remixes from Bawrut, Mr. Boom and Stalvart John.

Pawas’ excellent ‘Naja’ is a deeply alluring track with intoxicating vocals from Arooj Aftab. The warm, rubbery drums are topped with crisp hits and the churning groove really sweeps you up off your feet. Madrid based Italian Bawrut brings disco vibes to his house grooves and has had hits that Axel Boman and Jackmaster have played heavily. Here he fantastically flips the track into something serene and seductive, with a wonky bassline bringing energy and edginess to the track.

Pawas then offers up the excellent ‘Jiya’, another long-legged, mid-tempo house track with poised and purposeful drums crafting a deep-cut groove. Soothing pads bring late night colour up top and the whole thing oozes class.

Remixing this one is Indian Stalvart John, a well-known radio presence and driving force in his local scene who has released on India’s famous Wind Horse Records. His superb take is punchier, with a euphoric feeling from the layered vocal harmonies and a driving
bassline sure to get hands in the air.

Last of all, Frenchman Mr. Boom is an edit specialist who cuts up the track into a broken beat beauty with neon chords and loose rubber kicks all finished with some dazzling cosmic keys.

This is a package brimming with brilliant house sounds from some of India and Europe’s key players.

Next up for Get Physical is the first sampler single from Djuma Soundsystem's upcoming Body Language mix, which lands in May.

The Norwegian DJ and producer Mikkas is an underground stalwart who has popped up on the likes of Rebirth, Crosstown Rebels and Sol Selectas. His deep songs come with absorbing feelings and proper starry melodies that are catchy yet considered. He’s constantly touring the world playing all the major league clubs and festivals and now
once more he shows that what he crafts is more than just DJ tools with a super new single that is backed by a remix from Re.You.

While touring in Africa last year Djuma was amazed by the traditional Kenyan vocalist Olith’s androgynic voice, and rented a studio to record her, ‘Oloro Nyager’ is the result of this fruitful meeting. As well as guest vocalist Olith, Mikkas also collaborates with Russian duo and label associates Fake Mood on this E.P. The outcome is the sort of deeply spiritual and melodic house track that will form the high point in any set. Tribal chanting, yawning pads and rippling drums all make it superbly seductive. A club mix ups the ante with bigger drums that suck you in and encourage you to make some serious moves on the floor, all while the emotional content of the original remains.

Re.You is a tech house titan who has appeared on taste making outlets like Moon Harbour and Connected for around a decade. His edgy take on the genre is here for all to hear as he flips the track into a more experimental tech house track with an epic breakdown and more loose, scattered drums and hits.

This is a mouthwatering appetiser for the sure to be special Body Language mix from Djuma Soundsystem.

Sol Selectas is proud to present the “La Maison” ep from our good friend from Canada, DJ &  producer, Gab Rhome. These 2 original tracks blur the lines between deep, funky, and afro house styles, with crisp percussion, groovy bass lines, exotic strings arrangements, and playful vocals.
La Maison means “home” in French, and with Gab’s extensive travels around the World DJing, he found it “increasingly difficult to call anywhere home”. But on a recent holiday trip to his parents in rural Canada, among the lush woods, he felt back to his roots. The cheerful cries from children in the song “La Maison”, echo that happy sentiment that Gab felt returning to his foundation in the forest.

“Hidden” refers to the song elements contained within the track itself, a proper composition with verse, chorus, and bridge all included. The catchy guitar riff and vocal countdowns are from Gab himself, along side his girlfriend, just having fun in the studio. This demonstrates how both songs have seeds planted in sharing special moments with those closest to you -  friends, family, and lovers.

Whitesquare from Italy, joins Sol Selectas for his stripped back percussive remix of “La Maison”. The distinct Afro groove and signature minimal percussion he’s become known for, drive the track forward, but its the epic breakdown that keeps us marching on the dance trail.

MadMotormiquel from Berlin also premieres here on Sol Selectas, with a psychedelic re-interpretation of “Hidden”. Adding a powerful hypnotic bass, dramatic pads, and chopping up Gab’s guitar riff, he creates a heady late night dance floor trip.

The artwork by Helia Jamali takes us on a dreamscape to the northern green forests, where the Canadian hawk is leading us back to our “Maison”.
