ROBYN-ASTRID is an experimental singer-songwriter whose compositions explore identity, emotion and states of nature and existence through a wide range of vocal sounds and silence.

Her songs pull together poetry and stripped back acoustic folk; metaphor, water imagery and thoughts about thought are often present in her lyrics. 

Robyn-Astrid has been compared to the likes of Nico, Joni Mitchell and Björk, evoking raw feeling in her audiences, and often goosebumps,  through words and melodies that are delicate, ethereal and at times haunting.

Joining her voice, guitars, wineglass, house keys and Koshi are drone-creator PHIL DI PALMA and newest member JORDAN SMART, when he's not off taking Europe by storm. Together, they make up Robyn-Astrid & the River Calling.

Robyn-Astrid and Phil can be heard playing live (and discussing the new direction) as a trio with jazz trumpet/ cornet player Daniel Friend in an episode of Sophie Little's show entitled 'Drawing Dogs and Playing Wineglasses' on BBC Radio Norfolk, aired in January 2019 and available on SoundCloud.

Robyn-Astrid and Dan's album Rille, released in 2017, was aired with an interview on BBC Introducing and is heavily influenced by Jenny Hval, poet Alice Oswald and years of cold, clear winters. Robyn-Astrid's first EP, Mindberry Tree, was released in 2013. Both can be found on Spotify.

She has also collaborated with folk-punk band Let's Go Nowhere and more recently psychedelic rock band The Myriad Eyes and the more recently the ambient Charging Bliss Project.
