It was a fortunate coincidence that lead to Wankelmuts breakthrough back in 2011. It was his birthday and the Berlin DJ added his touch to his bootleg remix of Asaf Avidan ‚Reckoning Song (One Day)‘. As most of you already know the title conquered the charts by storm. It reached double plain status in Germany, was placed number one of Singe Charts in eight European countries, was the most downloaded track of Beatport 2012 and was played more then 150 million times on YouTube. Today we have him in the mix for you as he will be playing Free Your Mind Festival June 6.

There's The Mix Pt. 5 - Deeply Dippy Eggs

Ahoy! Thanks for listening to my latest mixtape called Zeevonk, which is the Dutch word for bioluminescent lights in the sea (which looks amazing as you can see in the artwork). I witnessed this natural phenomenon myself in the time when I was living on Curacao, a small island in the Dutch Caribbean for six months. While making this mix, I've tried to take myself back to that time and find the perfect tunes for that moment, looking at the blue glowing Caribbean sea.

The Souljazz Orchestra - 'Resistance ' album French Caribbean "Influences" mix

Lumberjacks can exist in both heaven and hell, however, it is the latter which Marcel Vogel chooses to place himself. The German producer and disc jockey has a notorious reputation for blending elements of cosmic disco alongside r'n'b, house and various oddities. Eclectic and dancefloor orientated the label has released music from the likes of Jamie 3:26, Traxx, Mr Mendel and Eddie C. More recently Marcel Vogel has also founded a new label titled 'Intimate Friends' on which he has taken a new creative approach. As a producer Marcel Vogel has captured elements of seduction present in old school r'n'b and placed them alongside modern day electronic influences. The result is often enchanting, odd and abuzz. We caught up with him as he contributes to The Ransom Note mix series.

RockSteady" Freddie Franklin is a DJ and music enthusiast. Having been brought up on a diet of northern soul bangers and sweet motown grooves, Freddie aquired a taste for funk and soul from a young age. His early favourites included artists such as Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Smokey Robinson and The Temptations.He purchased his first record player at the age of 17 and this is where his love for vinyl and crate digging began. 

At the age of 24 He picked up a pair of Technics turntables and discovered Londons vibrant house and disco scene, enjoying producers and DJ's such as The Revenge, Greg Wilson, 6th Borough Project, and Jacques Renault. From this he developed an eclectic DJing style. There are no bounderies when RockSteady Freddie is behind the decks. Expect deep disco and house, delicately weaved into rare funk bangers and simple soul delights. 

Currently a resident DJ for  London's "unwanted Family", you can see him DJing at several venues all over London, with residencies at the Horse and Groom, Shoreditch and The Star, Bethnal Green. The "unwanted." ethos is all about good tunes and smiling faces,so if you haven't checked out one of their nights yet then it's about time you did!
