Considering the recent climate of music in Hip-Hop, it is refreshing to hear introspective raps push its way back to the forefront. Rocky Banks has chosen to stick to his guns in his new Marco V produced single "Adapt". The Houston emcee continues his mission to influence self-improvement through experience and wisdom by informing the listener to adapt to any given circumstances. This record takes a very interesting turn in reception as its introduction of somber guitar chords transition into a rambunctious arrangement of 808s. With an indubitable tone, Banks recites in the chorus: "I adapt, learn then I adapt/I seen the traps, wont go tit for tat". Assuring the opposition that his energy toward the regressive lifestyle he's detached himself from will not be compromised ("It is what it is, you aint gotta f*** with the kid") he doesn't mince words in his opening stanza. From discussing his financial losses to immoral decisions ("Had an operation out the days inn/Had to GPS my moral compass, man I was really stuck inside my ways then") Rocky admits his remorse for his choices in past. Throughout "Adapt", Banks drops a plethora of thought provoking gems as he tries desperately to avoid falling back into a life of self-deprivation.
