Everything else is GREAT, but I'm not diggin' the AutoTune on the vocals AT ALL. The singer sounds like he's got some good chops. If it were me producing, I'd've kept working on the vox tracks until it was good WITHOUT the Auto-Tune.

The Understanding

This track was recorded in 1981, after "Gaucho" from Steely Dan was released. I was enamored with the groove of "Glamour Profession" and decided to adapt it for groove guitar thing. The drums are an actual tape drum loop, and the claps were created with a gated applause loop. The solo at the end is a nod to the excellent Steve Khan solo in Glamour Profession. I played all the instruments on this one.

Groove Jones - Hey Brother

Rod is well known in the central Pennsylvania area as a performing musician with Groove Jones, American Hollar, Boompop Coalition, The Kilmaine Saints, among others.

As an educator, Rod teaches private lessons on guitar, bass, drums, percussion, ukulele, and mandolin. Rod works at The Rock Mill in Mechanicsburg and is the creator of the ROCK BAND program as well as running many of the summer camps.  

Rod also works with the Weary Arts Group (WAG Music) and is the creator of the BOOMPOP Method, a groove based improvisational method, and teaches this approach to students of all ages (3 to 93).


Rod is founder and creator of MUSIC & WELLNESS, a built to suit music program addressing improvement of life through music, creativity, sound, singing, rhythm, movement, and energy.


Rod's latest endeavor has him teaching the teachers! He believes that the independent music educator are the future of music education.   He provides a blueprint for educators to level up on their teaching skills--strategy, organizational approach, marketing and business--The SHARE System!
