As a resident of the Leeds based party Duende, Finch has been causing monthly riots alongside eclectic line ups. Born in Nottingham and now thriving in Leeds, the event is focused on nurturing local talent and the community, by favouring rising UK selectors over established names. With the proceeds going to a different charity each month, Duende is a family with its heart in exactly the right place - a refreshing ethos and one I hope more promoters will adhere too. 

Finch has supported the likes of Anz, Iona, Desert Sound Colony, and OK Williams to name a few. Focusing on records he’s picked up over lockdown, Finch’s mix carries you through hypnotic 4 to the floor, bubbling grooves, sassy breaks, and swooping bass lines - mostly made up of bargain buys off Discogs!

Originally recorded to cassette, these five acidic tracks from Spanish-born producer and record store owner Dip Shim are a paean to his neighbourhood in Malmö, Sweden.

The breadth of styles across the EP is impressive, taking in uplifting techno, mid-tempo electro, banging acid, and ambient, all created with classic analogue machines, suffused throughout with that warm tape sound and sweet sweet 303.

In this episode, Guava is joined by Raj Chaudhuri and Lucy Hopson. Raj is a DJ, NTS resident, A&R for R&S Records, and a founding member of bubble collective and Livin’ Proof. Lucy, aka LUXE, is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming talents the North has to offer. As a classically trained musician, she has carved her career as a producer, radio DJ, and co-runs Manchester-based collective BLOOM. 

We sit down together and have a chat about conceptions about dance music, dodgy jazz musician and our favourite YouTube tutorials.

"Another Repeat Repeat Repeat outing, another ILK reissue. EP 3 was licensed along with Four Freqs EP to round things off. This time breakbeats dominate over the 4/4 patterns with the help of "Phase 2" and "Qwerks", but "Vicious" reminds us that linear grooves are still in the game."

Hi, I am Anders Abrahamsson, a k a DJ Anders!

Welcome to my World of Sound and Music! Born 1966, I fell in love with music when I was a five year old, where the summer of 1971 was plagued with the infectious synth lead of Pop Corn by the French cover group Hot Butter, and their interpretation of Gershon Kingsley's original from 1969. I've been DJing and arranging parties since 1979. 

Affiliated with NEMCOM [Norrköping Electronic Music Community, Est. 2002, Reg. 2003], for 16 years, as an artist firstly, then arranging numerous of events with two-figure number of event concepts/formats, and three-figure number guest artists through the years. Development of local DJs and artists is also a core activity in our community and association, taking place in our local #NKPGLearnSpace by NEMCOM.

To make that composer and producer I carry within, latently since that moment of a five-year-old in Torremolinos, Spain, on vacation, with that captivating synth melody of Popcorns flying all around in our minds ...
