June the 17th meet Nakadia to come back with her new single release titled "Back to Zero" to CODEX Recordings! 

Nakadia: "When I started working on "Back to Zero" I wanted to create an Acid-track, but not with the usual long 303-line. I was thinking of a driving Techno track with a short "Acid Surprise" and that's exactly what the track has become.
I originally got inspired to "Here we are" after night at DC-10 Ibiza listening to one of Jamie Jones's amazing techno sets. His techno is different to mine, but I wanted to produce something in this style. The first version was a lighter and funkier track, but it was not Nakadia. And after some time I decided to get back on the track again and make it more Nakadia-style. I added harder drums and when I found this outstanding synth-sound that now is the main sound of the track, it changed the entire dynamic of the track and now "Here we are"!"

A natural fit for the Token label and now a regular contributor, Nørbak presents his new release ‘Flauta’ on the Belgian imprint. Keeping things driving and dense, his productions boast a raw intensity, continuing to describe spacious rooms with roaring atmospheres. 

The title track serves as a firm introduction to the project; ‘Flauta’ is a typical Nørbak A1. Claps on the kick, thick sound design on all levels, and tribal percussion make for an imposing first track. Finding groove in the chaos is never difficult for the Portuguese artist, his seamless blend of functional and mental techno make for quite a recognizable sound with reliable effect. On the other hand, his followup ‘Despida’ sharpens the tone and focuses its elements. Proving he can do just as much damage with a more minimal approach, Nørbak drops the claps for shakers and whips up a distorted stab as the main driver of the track. Despite the versatility of his records, there is something very homogenous about the tonality of his drums and synths - they seem electric, and ‘Despida’ truly nails that aesthetic. Moving on to the B side, we have yet another facade of the project. While ‘Golpe’ has a classic foundation, Nørbak’s flamboyant sound design guides the track’s arrangement, making anything but a loop. The record’s structure makes for clear accents that insist on a pulsating atmosphere. This moves perfectly into the EP’s conclusion. ‘Camarada’ resembles more ‘Despida’ in the minimal construction, retaining a lot of the squelching lead textures. Mastering the question/answer style of techno, Nørbak is able to capitalize on the tonality of his sonic experiments to create swing on the dance floor. Obscure, quick, and elusive, Nørbak wraps up ‘Flauta’ with restraint and efficiency.

Mintech is an Italian artist from Naples, and he is an accomplished techno producer who fuses raw percussion with analogue sounds. This release shows a deep understanding of rhythm and atmosphere.

Ellen Allien - one of Berlin’s most ardent techno ambassadors - proudly unveils her latest full-length expedition into the realms of underground electronica. Brimming with creative energy, Ellen’s new LP AURAA follows her 2019 release Alientronic, and is her third album in three years. Raw, emotive and capable of transporting you from reality to an electrofied fantasy, AURAA explores the notion of unseen energies controlling our planet.

Beginning with the faintest hint of trance euphoria on the downtempo ‘Hello Planet Earth (Breath Mix)’, the album soon moves into more bumpin’ territory with ‘In Music I Trust’ - Ellen’s signature use of vocals-as-melody entrancing the listener. ‘Walking In The Dark’ takes things up a notch further with jabbing percussion and mesmerising atmospherics, followed by ‘Confusion’, a masterclass in heady hypnotic composition. ‘Human’ is a deeply affecting beatless segue with its drone-esque soundscape. ‘True Romantics’ taps into your emotional centre utilising hard beats and wistful synth lines. Now an established force in contemporary Techno, Mike Bierbach, better known under his stage name Rødhåd is someone who has seriously put in the work. Having cut his teeth DJing as a relatively unnoted (but well loved by those in the know) local in Berlin for 10 years, one could argue that by the time success knocked on his door, he was more than ready for playing the international stage. It was during these 10 years of obscurity when he refined his craft to become the singular DJ he is now. 

Launching his party-series-turned-label Dystopian in 2009 was what truly tipped the ball over for Rødhåd. In a time where the Berlin scene was heavily oversaturated by fluffy, miscellaneous dance music, he & his peers set out to form a platform for real techno. The reception to this was raucous. 

Although he has lauded productions and remixes to his name, DJing is his true forte. Before abandoning his day job as a draftsman in construction “The Red” (as some call him due to his gingered, bearded appearance) was known for playing very long sets in Berlin’s most notorious hideaways. 

With an album, several EPs & remixes for a multitude of different artists under his belt, Rødhåd the producer has received equal praise as Rødhåd the DJ. Dystopian has hosted most of his releases, but in 2018 he founded a new label WSNWG that serves as a home for collaborative productions, excavated in sessions at his East-Berlin studio with his peers such as Lucy, Alex.Do, & Antigone.
