A post-industrial vortex pulled us in, where deep mechanical grooves met tight rhythmic control in a set that was both punishing and hypnotic. The pacing was expertly crafted, grinding tension, explosive peaks, and moments of eerie restraint, all delivered with a raw, analog-driven energy that kept the floor locked in. A staple figure in the Swedish scene for over a decade and core member of the Feieramt resident team, Jessie is a remarkable and versatile DJ with deep musical knowledge and a genuine connection to sound. Her sets embrace progression and beauty, guiding listeners through hypnotic journeys.

Having shared the booth with many of the leading names in techno and electronic music, she has performed at iconic venues such as Bassiani in Tbilisi and Tresor in Berlin, remaining a key figure in the Stockholm scene for many years.

Jessie is also part of the renowned Northern Electronics label, alongside artists like Varg, Anthony Linell, and Evigt Mörker. She frequently appears at their showcases, including a memorable b2b closing set with Anthony Linell at Berlin Atonal in 2023.

She has performed alongside renowned artists and played in respected venues, including the legendary Berghain.

In 2021, she co-founded La Taquinerie, a collective dedicated to ambient and downtempo experiences, merging video art and poetry. For two years, the collective held a residency at La Gare / Le Gore, curating Thursday nights with a singular artistic vision.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

Strange anomalies are scattered throughout the world. Things that could not possibly belong to the time period or place in which they were found. These so called out of place artifacts baffle historians & archaeologists up until today and have inspired producers Vril & Rødhåd to write a collaborative concept album.

As a result the two producers got together in the studio with the idea to subvert the expectations of their previous work. They experimented over two sessions in 2018 and 2019, resulting in a record showcasing a different palette of sounds and tempo. 

The album is suited for deep listening and exploring aforementioned concepts or introspection in general. A mystic tone is set from the start, and grips the listener throughout the whole run time. Each track encapsulates this notion in its own unique form, blending sonic ambience and complex beats that reaches spectral heights. Both producer's styles shine individually, but the collaboration achieves something greater than the sum of its parts.

Out Of Place Artefacts will be released as double vinyl in a gate folder and in all digital formats on the WSNWG label on the 20th of October.

tofudj – Mixtape For W Λ V E S 085

Now an established force in contemporary Techno, Mike Bierbach, better known under his stage name Rødhåd is someone who has seriously put in the work. Having cut his teeth DJing as a relatively unnoted (but well loved by those in the know) local in Berlin for 10 years, one could argue that by the time success knocked on his door, he was more than ready for playing the international stage. It was during these 10 years of obscurity when he refined his craft to become the singular DJ he is now. 

Launching his party-series-turned-label Dystopian in 2009 was what truly tipped the ball over for Rødhåd. In a time where the Berlin scene was heavily oversaturated by fluffy, miscellaneous dance music, he & his peers set out to form a platform for real techno. The reception to this was raucous. 

Although he has lauded productions and remixes to his name, DJing is his true forte. Before abandoning his day job as a draftsman in construction “The Red” (as some call him due to his gingered, bearded appearance) was known for playing very long sets in Berlin’s most notorious hideaways. 

With an album, several EPs & remixes for a multitude of different artists under his belt, Rødhåd the producer has received equal praise as Rødhåd the DJ. Dystopian has hosted most of his releases, but in 2018 he founded a new label WSNWG that serves as a home for collaborative productions, excavated in sessions at his East-Berlin studio with his peers such as Lucy, Alex.Do, & Antigone.
