XIMA started his journey with dancefloor and old-school techno as a listener. Later, as a producer, he decided to explore the more hypnotic and atmospheric side of techno. Keeping the groove and tight low end, he started to experiment with the other elements, blending the natural sounds of the environment with synthesized soundscapes, which resulted in immersive atmospheres. There are also times when he prefers to slow down the tempo of his production for greater immersion, dabbling with melodic downtempo music. One of these was recently released by the Indian label kośa. After his debut EP on the UK-based label N F E R E E in 2023, he returns to a faster techno sound that drives us onto the edge of an abstractive sound space.

Refractions explores the vast, enigmatic realms of space, capturing its haunting beauty and inherent danger. Each track serves as a sonic journey through the cosmos, reflecting the intricate dance of celestial bodies and the profound isolation of the void. Pulsating basslines mimic the gravitational pull of distant planets, while synths evoke the shimmering light of stars, inviting listeners to traverse the unknown.

The EP’s soundscapes oscillate between moments of serene beauty and intense, foreboding energy, mirroring the duality of space: a breathtaking expanse filled with wonder yet fraught with peril. With intricate layers and immersive textures, Refractions invites you to lose yourself in the depths of sound, contemplating the mysteries of existence beyond our earthly confines. Each track is a reminder of the delicate balance between allure and danger, encapsulating the essence of the universe's infinite diversity.

Elias Gozal started playing records in their basement as a 14-year-old and has since traveled Europe with residencies in both Copenhagen and Paris. Elias was raised by their North African Jewish mother and spent parts of their childhood in Caracas, Venezuela with their aunt, prompting Elias to draw inspiration from both South American drum music as well as the mysticism of North Africa. It is this blend of modern and ancient tradition that truly distinguishes Elias’s approach to electronic music from their peers in the local scene and something that is not just an aesthetic choice, but an authentic expression of a unique cultural heritage. As a DJ and selector, Elias has developed a skill set that allows them to mix a wildly wide mix of styles without ever losing focus on what the dance floor needs - a familiar, yet excitingly different experience.

Patience is a virtue well-rewarded in techno; finding the right groove to build on then holding your nerve long enough to pay off the wait at the optimum moment is a much more skillful endeavour than it would seem for such a minimalistic style. 
And few display this talent better than Detroit originals Scan 7.

Part of the hallowed Underground Resistance family, Scan 7 first broke out in the mid- 90s with a series of jacking machine funk 12”s that showcased their savvy for self- control - a faculty they have demonstrated in releases year-on-year since.

Highlighting this continuous font of vitality, Tresor records has returned to the source and is proud to announce the reissue of Scan 7’s debut LP, Dark Territory.

First unleashed on the label in 1996, the album has been remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser, augmenting already powerful tracks such as the snake-like, tea- sing Unusual Channel (mixed by the master Blake Baxter), and the harder-edged VII resulting in music that will, without doubt, provoke an enhanced response when the pressure is finally released.

Repressed on vinyl with (slightly) updated artwork, these tracks still sound like a blueprint for the future, testament to the prescience and assurance Scan 7’s leader, Trackmaster Lou, clearly had when writing “I hope you enjoy my records in the phuture to come” in the sleeve notes nearly 30 years ago.

This meticulously crafted dystopian soundscapes are engineered to obliterate any dancefloor, heralding the chaos. 
Handle with caution: this is dangerous material.
The album ignites with intricate drum patterns that thunder like tanks across a barren, icy wasteland, while haunting atmospheric elements loom, setting a menacing tone for the journey ahead.
Next, a feverish descent into robot’s nightmare ensues, where mechanical drum liturgies weave relentless tension, immersing listeners in a post-human auditory realm.
As the odyssey progresses, doom-laden horns and mechanized drums merge to unleash subversive, devastating frequencies.
Just when the intensity seems to peak, filthy analog sine waves bubble through obscurity, pushing the boundaries of industrial techno music to its limits. 
Annihilation is the word that resonates here.
Closing the chapter, one of Belgium’s finest producers, Peter Adrienssens aka 6SISS, delivers a sinister remix showcasing his hyper-cerebral syncopated signature - bringing the release to another level of chaos.
“Not for the faint-hearted” is no mere euphemism for this EP; it is a stark warning that demands to be heeded.
