At The Big Donut (Demo)

This is the full version of the music that plays during Steven's dream in Lion 3: Straight to Video. Joe and I were scheduled to pitch our storyboards one day, but something came up and we had to postpone the pitch. I stayed in the conference room and started making up a silly song in GarageBand while I waited. Later on I thought it would be fun to use that song for the scene in Lion 3! It turned out to be weirdly appropriate for Dogcopter's speech. I had a lot of fun writing the dialogue for this scene with some assistance from Rebecca. There's some ideas in there that I feel really strongly about and it's really cool that they could make it into the show!

The Pitch Got Delayed

This is the original recording for Greg's guitar playing in Lion 3: Straight to Video, recorded in the backyard of my parents' house while I was on hiatus from work. I wanted it to sound pretty, but a bit vague and mysterious too.

Greg On The Beach

I made this demo for the scenes inside of Lion's mane in Lion 3: Straight to Video. When I boarded the scenes that take place in the mane, I thought it would be cool to play some music during the board pitch. I wanted it to be disorienting and weird so I reversed the track, and had it gradually build up with more layers getting weirder and weirder until Steven reaches the tree and it starts playing forward coherently. The track plays backwards up until 1:39 and then it starts playing forward.
I sent this demo to Aivi and Surasshu and they did the awesome version that's in the final episode!

Steven Universe - Alexandrite

Here's the demo I made for On the Run! Featuring amazing vocals by Katie Mitroff for Amethyst's part. This one was kind of a puzzle for me. I originally wrote the song in D major, but I had to adjust it to B-flat to fit both Steven and Amethyst's voice actors' ranges. My voice is really low so Steven sings an octave higher than me in the final version.

On the Run Demo

Here's the first demo I did for On the Run! This one's in the key of D major. The kalimba at the end is a real kalimba! The one I have happens to be in the key of D. The one in the final version is digital because I changed it to B-flat, and sadly I have no B-flat kalimba.

Some acoustic guitar I recorded for the No Home Boys scene in On the Run! If you listen closely at the end you can hear the soda machine at the studio making some crazy machine noises.

Here's my demo for Amethyst's song in Cry for Help! Bonus intro guitar loops at the beginning- they play backwards over the end of the song.
