This single is the result of a partnership between Rodrigo Simoes and Studio Dance Montréal for the videoclip. The song "Mix for all", composed by Rodrigo, explores the brazilian rhythm of xote (forró) in a jazz context. The song was part of "Jazz brésilien" album, which is considered among the 5 best 2018 jazz CDs release in Québec (according to Sortie Jazz Nights) and received a Bronze medal as best 2019 brazilian jazz album from Global Music Awards. The video production is by Remi Hermoso (Sphéra Collective).

Mix for all (single) by Rodrigo Simoes

Rodrigo Simões’ second album, “Jazz Brésilien” is the result of two years of research through the University of Montreal’s Jazz Masters Degree program, where he evolved under the direction of bassist Alain Caron (UZEB). The instrumentals themes and vocals pieces (both French and English) are inspired by the rhythms of Brazilian musical traditions such as Maracatú, Forró and Samba. Rodrigo (electric guitar, classical and bandolim) is joined by a group of experienced musicians: Fabrice Laurent (drums and percussion), Papacho Sirdey (piano, rhodes and melodica), André Galamba (bass) and the guests Aquiles Melo (congas), Jean-Pierre Zanella (saxophone) and Sonia Johnson (vocal). All pieces are composed by Rodrigo, with the collaboration of Sonia Johnson (Juno award recipient), lyricist of three songs in the album. There is also a samba version of Bluesette (Toots Thielemans / Norman Gimbel) arranged for the occasion.The album was released by the Montreal-based record label Multiple Chord Music (MCM) and is available on all digital platforms... Rodrigo Simoes is a composer and arranger who develops a style in between Brazilian music and jazz. During his international career, he has performed in China, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Paraguay and United States. The guitarist and mandolinist has already worked with great artists in Brazil (Elza Soares, Carlos Malta, Paulinho da Viola, Dominguinhos, Zeca Baleiro and Paulo Moska) and Québec/Canada (Trio Bruxo, Joel Miller, Diogo Ramos, Flavia Nascimento, Jean-Pierre Zanella, Sonia Jonhson, Alex Lefaivre et Lisa Lorenzino)
