Exclusive: Track 1 (MH Edit) [Fauve]

Hong Kong rooted and raised artists and Canto head diggers MH respectively RFX release the first edition of their Canto Club House project, a potpourri of four tracks reworked and reshaped to be played out on the dance floor and around. After a well-received digital release of Extinct Melodies From the Canto Club which gained the support by artists like Ben UFO, Tim Sweeney, Nd_baumecker or the Blessed Madonna, the demand for more Cantonese edits has been there and is  now finally satisfied. Club-friendly and cheesy but never crossing the line of becoming irrelevant is what characterizes this release, which is equally split into two edits from RFX and MH. The latter took on responsibility for the A1 and A2 while, Romain FX sprinkled his magic on the b-side of the vinyl. The A1 or Track 1 (MH Edit) takes one back to the 80s, to a time when clubs like DD's, Canton Disco or Hot Gossip opened their wild playgrounds in the Asian metropolis of Hong Kong as its nightlife revolved around hotels in those times, ringing in a new era of clubbing. MH's approach lets one re-experience this period of Hong Kong night clubbing with a bass line that vaults one right into the beforementioned events and the Disco-esque chords and vocals add the missing pieces for this total Canto-experience and journey through a 'decade that gave birth to big hair, shoulder pads, and great music'.

Canto Club House 001 EP will be released on Fauve Records on April 19th, 2021.

PREMIERE: Klimas - Mamåe [Lempa]

Quartier Groove Records releases its first EP “Ritmo del Barrio” that features two club weapons from the Spanish electronic music vaults of the 90s, TYU’s remix of Bravo & Dj’s 1989 one-hit wonder “Difacil Rap”, and Richard Fribert’s rework of the early electronic rumba track “Sueño Almohade” by Sombra y Luz. Both tracks have been licensed and agreed with the original labels and writers, and will be limited to 300 copies.

On the a-side, an edgy club revision of a 90s hip-house track that was originally written by a group of DJs compelling us to join them for a wild night out. TYU’s remix, that only makes use of the rad rapapella, makes a perfect match to the daring call and takes us to a 90s rave of today in full style, with its bold drums, slappy snares, trancy synths and road-paving bassline.

The flip comes with Richard Fribert’s powerful and fearless hi-NRG rework of the experimental rumba song “Sueño Almohade” by Sombra y Luz, a track that makes a clear flirt with the history of Spain, a country that was once the Muslim ruled area of “Al-Andalus”. Spanish passion meets Arabic mystique in this hard, slamming, acid ride of an update. The result, a DJ weapon to be reckoned with.

The two tracks comes together to form Ritmo del Barrio EP, “Quartier Groove” in Spanish, the project by label heads Richard Fribert & MOQST that was designed to encourage listeners to search for more unknown and forgotten music in the most unexpected of corners of the world.

PREMIERE : Bravo & DJs - Difacil Rap (TYU Remix)

JIN05 enters the winter season with a funky warmth from synthesizer specialist Romain FX. Based in Lyon, raised in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Romain is a true multi-culturist. Growing up only speaking Mandarin in Taipei, then got in touch with keyboard at legendary Shaw Studio in Hong Kong at age of 16. A1 "結合 Jiéhé" ( in English means Combine) and B1 Flagada both showcases Romain's technical skills on boards and also his playful jam session disco vibe.   

Remixes come in 2 opposite forms:On A2 Zurich's Ozelot Records head honcho Manuel Fischer surprisingly delivers with an experimental approach, turning Jiéhé to a moody, dub funk.  Choppy kicks and woozy atmosphere makes this a late night dance floor favourite cut. Then Telephones finishes up the EP on B2 with a total, 90's peak time euphoric bomb, transforming "Flagada" into a pumping feel good vibe that is a must get weapon for all house heads and  ravers alike.

First, our papi from Guatemala, Fabio Me Llaman Soltero, brings us a tune with his signature sound on "Boogaloo Bebe". Music to loose your mind and your body on the dance floor.

Next, a new member of the family. Max Jones with 6:38 minutes of techno misterio in "Honk".

Our boi RUARY (@ruaryvargas) comes back with his hard and slow bass kicks in "WOOP". Play this as loud as possible.

Erotika` initially formed its shape in the deep layers and cells of analog and digital music hardware. With some tribal drums on top of a straight four-on-four beat, crystal acid drops, and smooth waves of FM synthesized lines it becomes a black body of pleasure. Burning in cold flame, mystical voice of Vaide adds erotic soul and completes this track as a perfect dark disco room experience.

Longhair always delivers the goods! The Berlin-based duo of Marko Pelaic (Homeboy) and Bene Bogenberger (one half of Peak & Swift) first wowed us with their sublime self-titled debut EP on Bordello A Parigi back in 2018 and more recently with their killer "The Forbidden Dance" 12'' on Love On The Rocks and the "Space Time EP on Permanent Vacation. Liudas Lazauskas is an active member of the Lithuanian nightlife scene for more than ten years. A regular at the infamous Opium club and other local hot spots came under Roe Deers’ moniker back in 2014. Since then, he’s been pushing the boundaries and exploring the uncharted territories with the different shades of dirty electronic music via Omnidisc, Turbo Recordings, Throne Of Blood imprints.
