For almost two decades, I have been tirelessly seeking honesty in music. I aim to find the sounds with which the artist speaks. Soundscapes that make you feel. Atmospheres that not only fill your room (and headphones) but truly transport you into another time and place. I will never forget the first time I heard Abul Mogard’s music. I was mesmerised. His intricate attention to sound design, rich textures, and manipulation of the created environment instantly transformed me into an avid fan. His music didn’t just augment my mood; it seemed to seep into my being, altering the code behind the perception of my mind. I didn’t just listen to his music, I invited it to be a part of my condition. In an effort to delve deeper and spend more time with such music, and more importantly, the composers themselves,  I created Headphone Community, where I feature an artist for an in-depth exploration. In the last three months, I’ve highlighted the sounds of James Murray, Ben Chatwin, and Erik K Skodvin. Today, I am honoured to announce that Abul Mogard will be the featured artist for the entire month of June! Dutch maestro @kettelmusic (Reimer Eising) is back on Madrid's Analogical Force with Inmate Shuffle, his first full EP for the label since 2017’s Alacasa (AF008). This release features five tracks straight from the heart of Reimer’s universe, serving as a heartfelt reaffirmation of his unique identity. Kettel’s artistry is a testament to staying true to oneself. Artists like Reimer are not bound by fleeting trends or rigid genres; instead, he carves his own paths, constantly reinventing his sound with honesty and passion. A triumph of friendship and comradery. We see the phrase "Friends and Family" used to address that specific crowd, but who is in that crowd? why are they deserving of that title? what makes them your friends and family? the connections we make are everlasting, the impact humans have on our lives is immeasurable, and the people who helped make this come together (and was patient with our delays :P) have been some of the most important people in my life. Which is why I give them this title. My friends & family.

Roel Funcken officially popped up on the scene in 2010, with his solo debut, titled Vade, out on Ad Noiseam. But fans of electronic music, and IDM in general, have been tracking this Dutch musician for over a decade prior, when, along with his brother, Don, the duo has released some of the genre defining music on labels such as Djak-Up-Bitch, Schematic, Sublight Records, Neo Ouija, n5MD , Arcola (Warp) as the one and only Funckarma. In 2009 the Funcken brothers kicked off their very own, digital-only, Funcken Industry imprint, which hosted a few of their other projects and offshoots, such as Shadow Huntaz, Scone, Quench, Automotive, and the latest from Roel's solo works. Roel continues to influence the evolution of music through numerous releases (Sapper Morton on Analogical Force, Semtinal Convex on Methlab and Prester Hynn on his own imprint to name a few) and active engagement in the community, with music festival curation, mixes on mixlr and soundcloud and weekly playlists on Soundcloud and spotify. Roel's music is advanced in sound design, often incorporating unique experimentation in electronic sound, with cut-up, twisted, atmospheric sonic soundscapes, leaving the cranium always begging for more. His ambient textures maintain a cinematic quality throughout, while his percussive arrangements retain a constantly mutating framework, always reconstructing its rhythm and structure, contradicting complex configurations and minimal design. It's always a pleasure to taste the latest treat from this aural engineer, and find the latest gem in his never-ending arsenal of sound.
